BATTIER TRAVELLED!!!
Hey I need someone to back me up on this! On the final rebound Battier got with a few seconds left, NO ONE TOUCHED HIM. More accurately, NO ONE GOT WITHIN A 3 FOOT RADIUS OF HIM. He slipped, dragging both feet, falling to the ground. By anyone's definition HE TRAVELLED. Blazers ball, down 3, seconds left. Except not. A foul. Without any visible contact. Yes, that's right. Series changing call. On ESPN both Van Gundy and Marc Jackson said it shouldn't have been a foul. Did anyone else see this? Does anyone disagree? (I would be surprised). Opinions please!!!

Yes he did.
Van Gundy said “that wasn’t a foul by the way” right after it happened.
Too bad we have accepted pathetic mediocrity in officiating.
How many more fouls total have been called on the Blazers this series?
Two charges on Brandon in the 1st quarter? Seriously?
It was a bad call...but honestly Blake shouldn't have shot the 3
You’ll never get that call in that situation.
I fear for the day Paul Allen is no longer the owner of the Blazers.
He needs to reproduce soon so we have an heir in succession.
I hope this doesn't turn into ref cryfest.
The refs were as good as you could hope for in a playoff game on the road.

Well, off the ball fouls is where we got hurt. Like Oden getting called for his 5th, that was just bizare.

I totally don't want it to either
just wanted some feedback on this call. I just honestly didn’t believe it was happening but obviously there are more crucial reasons this game ended up as it did…
We didn't deserve to be in this one
They should have kicked our ass with how well they played early but they didn’t…

Agreed
+1. We played horribly in the first two and a half quarters. The fact we had that shot at the end is huge.

You guys did deserve to be in it...
Ya’ll played great down the stretch, especially in the crucial moments, the lead was just too big for you to chip away at in time.
Yes he did
But they’ll always call a foul in that case because they expect it to happen…

Refs were anticipating
they always do that.
I’m much more upset by all the chances we wasted.
How did you guys win that?
"We scored enough points. We scored 107, they scored 105.
-Nate McMillan Postgame, 3/4/2009
Yeah, I've heard a couple people say they were anticipating
but why not huddle up and try to correct the call? Everyone saw what happened it’s not too late to change it….(just an idea)
this is the nba
where refs dont call travelling. there were worse things than the refs. the refs didnt force blake to shoot that horrible shot.
I got 6 years of playoff blue balls going on, and I'm ready to release. GO BLAZERS. ~Mortimer
What about
the decision to keep in Outlaw instead of Rudy that without question was the biggest factor in this game. I definitely do NOT blame the refs for this game in the slightest.
"Death is not final," Gita says. "If any man thinks that he slays, and if another thinks that he is slain, neither knows the truth. The Eternal in man cannot kill: the Eternal in man cannot die. The soul in man is neither born nor does it die. Weapons cannot cut it; fire cannot burn it; water cannot drown it.

Rudy is amazing to have survived not only the Ariza flagrant but also several attempts by snipers to end his life (look for it at second 30 and again later. Credit to Norkstroll for this incredible documetary footage!):

The sage commentary of Rocket's fan Aaronisaproblem:
"You have to understand tho, its like you guys watching Scola…we understand he can be viewed as a flopper… But you really honestly cant see why we would think Pryz is a flopper? Granted, he isnt a full fledged flop artist like AK or most of the Jazz who should be attending Floppers Anonymous."

Agreed
Why hot hand and one of unfortunately two guys who were playing like it was a big game was out for Travis Outlaw didn’t make much sense to me, but I’m not a coach.

Refs are bad.
End of story. It’s probably not going to change. I wish they would call things like that the right way for both teams, but it’s not really going to happen. I kind of thought the same thing for a second but realized “oh wait, I forgot what the refs are like”.
Travis Outlaw fan from the beginning.
the foul on oden when yao ran into him coming down the floor was more agregious
the refs were in the tank for houston, but that’s no excuse because the blazers still could have won after playing a bad game, this game gives me confidence the blazers can come back and win the series, not that they, will, but they can.
Funny,
didn’t the Rockets have a very similar claim at the end of game 2?
Totally different play
Rudy had a defender right on his heels who tripped him on an inbounds play. This was a player standing alone simply slipping while holding the ball…
