Any Other Portland Expats in Phoenix?
I'm a Portlander stuck in Phoenix for a few years.
That's bad enough, but I've been stuck watching every Blazer game this season alone, either at home or at a bar with NBA TV. I'm always the only one there, so I'm lucky to get audio, and lately there's been a scattering of D-Backs fans cheering loudly over meaningless singles in the first month of the season.
I figure there have to be more displaced Blazer fans down here, andI figure I want to watch my team with them.
So here's the deal: I watch the games at Hazelwoods, at 3626 E Indian School Rd,
Phoenix, AZ 85018. They've got some good, cheap bar food, a whole bunch of TVs, a decent enclosed patio, and decent beer selection (by Phoenix standards...they at least have a nice, hoppy Big Sky IPA). I don't watch every game there, and I'm worried about tonight since it's a Friday, but I wouldn't mind hooking up with some other Portlanders to watch our team take back homecourt advantage.
If you're down here with me, let me know.

I'll be moving to Phoenix to take a summer job in about 2 and a half weeks.
If the Blazers move along in the playoffs, I’m down 100%.
I go to law school. Therefore, I have no life.

Sweet.
Hopefully, I’ll see you then. You at Lewis and Clark Law School? I may have seen you before…I worked at Market of Choice on Terwilliger until about a year ago.
No. I'm at U of Arizona in Tucson.

I will be there.
I have been trying to find other Blazer fans here in Scottsdale, I am sick of hearing about the D-backs and Bolden’s contract.
If I put on a Spain jersey and dunk in Dwight Howard's face, they give me a "50"- Rudy Fernandez.
I will have my Brandon Roy jersey on.
See you at 6:30.

Have you ever been to The Lodge in Scottsdale? They have large screen HDTVS and they have good food there, its over by Camelback and Miller.

I have not.
But I’m up for heading out there if we’re the only two Blazer fans. Generally, I’ll tend to stay closer to come at Hazelwoods, but this place sounds decent. How’s the beer selection?
Beer is good, they have a few microbrews.
I just reserved an area for us Blazer fans, it has a 50 plus inch big screen HDTV, there will be three Blazer fans total, plus happy hour until seven on food and drinks.
The Lodge, 1/2 a block south of Don and Charlies’s restaurant off Camelback Rd.
We are bringing back homecourt.

I wrote reviews for PHX sports bars last year...
I suggest Upper Deck in Scottsdale or Half Moon on 2121 E. Highland. Upper deck is solid all around w/o Scottsdale prices. Half Moon has only one good beer on tap, but plenty of screens, really good wings, and Dbax specials so you can make those games count for you. If you time it right with the game you can take advantage of Happy Hour. It gets crowded w/ suits so get there early.
Majerles projector screen back room is nice. Awful food, decent micros, and the back room is empty so you can have whatever game you want.
Sneakers in Tempe is an awesome sports bar with dirt cheap happy hours, that sandbag in the hole game, cute coeds, plenty of screens and decent beer.

Thanks for the updates, boombayay...
I actually live closer to Half Moon…they’re not bad, but once Hazelwood’s added Big Sky IPA, I was hooked. Haven’t tried Upper Deck, because I generally stay in the Central Phoenix area. Maybe it’s my PDX upbringing, but I’m a bit averse to sprawl. Or I’m lazy.
Probably the latter.
