The Trail Blazers Enigma
The Trail Blazers Enigma

This team always surprises me and I root for them more than any team I have ever rooted for. But Houston and McKenzie River we have a problem. It works like this.
- We are getting married next week.
- Weddings are expensive.
- We have tickets to all the games.
- The tickets are expensive.
- The second round of the playoffs will mostly be during wedding week where we will be away in McKenzie River and the Beach.
- It would be easier on our hectic lives if we did not have to deal with the second round of the playoffs.
- Like Pavlov's Dog the trumpet calls.
- We want the Blazers to win it anyway.
- With all our hearts.
- We will deal with it then.
And then there is this series. One of the fruits of being a season ticket holder is you get to go to the game. That is if your schedule can afford it. I took an assignment to teach at night this month. I love teaching. It pays the bills. Well it actually only pays for Blazers tickets. Its known in some circles as disposable income.
But
- Our beloved Blazers seem to be playing on nights I teach.
- And teach I must.
- Game 2 I left the class out early so that they would not get stuck in "post game traffic".
- Meaning I could watch the rest of the game on television.
We play again next Tuesday the night I once again have to teach.
I need to hatch a plan.

scalp your tickets and go get your honeymoon on
they were selling 300 level tix for $100 for Game 1 outside the RG.
Then they were selling them for face at game 2
Nobody wanted to endure another Game 1. It was just to painful. In fact, I would consider doing the “Total Recall” memory transplant thing if it meant never having to think about it again.
Field trip
"The brownies,'' Fernandez said after the game. "The brownies are good for me to make three-points.''
That's the best I can come up with
I scheduled my wedding during basketball season, and had to miss the Hornets HOME game! An egregious oversight!
If my wedding was on a playoff day...
I would expect my best man to he holding a portable TV in a position that only I could see it.

Its important what you teach.
If you teach film study, have them watch a film, and then they can discuss it the next class time.
What are you teaching?
From the back of Travis Outlaw's Franz card: Travis leads the team in monstrous thunder dunks, wins awards for post game interviews, and often gets extra points for degree of difficulty.
From the back of Greg Oden's Franz card: Nickname: Jaws. Has an insatiable desire to tear rims apart while cruising the open court, and was once interested in using head-gear for his profession.
OK, we all love the Blazers...
but I think we can all agree that your wedding and your job is a little more important than a basketball game.
Do what any sane person would do, go teach and get the score updates after the game, and at the wedding just have a buddy give your scored during the reception.

yeah
I teach over at OMSI…..(PCC Central Campus) and it appears like I will get out of class and probably take the bike over to the RG and watch the sesond half of the game.
As for the wedding….and honeymoon…yes of course those things do come first, with everything that is going on right now I just didn’t want to deal with one more thing to do. Well truth be told its a nice comundrum to have, getting married and the Blazers in the playoffs.
