Denver/New Orleans Game 2 Open Thread
Orlando evened the series against Philly 1-1.
D. Wade just banked in an absurd 3 to give Miami a late 10 point lead and it appears the Heat will square their series against Atlanta.
So far, only Cleveland and Los Angeles have been able to hold serve in both home games. Denver will try to be the first non 1-seed to do so. The game is about to begin.
Now Cook hits his 6th three to put Miami up 13. Wade also has 6 threes. Wow. I still like Atlanta in this series as Miami won't keep hitting threes at this pace.
Back to Denver-NO... can the Hornets make this a series or will Denver handle them in relatively short order? I still have Denver in 7 myself.
Comment here about how much you wish the Spurs hadn't been ridiculously lucky with those Finley threes (so Portland could have drawn New Orleans).

Apparently this is the first time in playoff history 2 teammates have had 6 threes each
Wow.
Wade and Cook would not have been my pick to be the first to do that.
And then Peja airmailed the one that could have sealed the deal
interesting.

Melo and Andersen are Nuggets. Ugh.
West and Paul are both class acts… great players as well.

I respectfully disagree
In addition to his flagrant fouls (which I didn’t witness, I’m just going off the above comments), he sure seems to complain a great deal about any call that goes against him or non-calls that don’t go in his favor, and whining is not very classy in and of itself.
He reminds me of Z-Bo minus the off the court malfeasance.

Goodbye Deke. The NBA will miss Mt. Mutombo.
I'm rooting for New Orleans also
partly because I really don’t like the Nuggets and partly because I want to see another good series. All but the 1-8 matchups are looking good so far.
holy moly I thought I was gonna be furst
but I’ll be danged a lot of comments up so kwikly

Matt Devlin and PJ Carlesimo on the call
PJ knows his stuff and all, but the Marv Albert/Doug Collins broadcast team is soooo much better.
The Breen/Van Gundy/Jackson ESPN team is really good also.
Any crew Kevin Calabro or Dick Stockton is on is ok by me also.
The only broadcasters I can’t stand are Reggie Miller and Jon Barry.
Reggie can hit the three
but he can’t hit the trifecta on a good joke.

But the color guy in the NO-DEN game is terrible, I can’t stand him. Is that fratello?
no, that was none other than PJ Carlesimo
He’s new to the whole broadcasting thing— I think he’s got potential to be really good but he’s still a rookie.
There should be no complaining about Channing and Sergio
when New Orleans fans have to put up with Devin Brown.

I ask because it seems like the fact that Violet is reffing this game suggest the NBA does not consider her one if its worst refs
Which lends some support to my thesis that she’s actually just below average rather than the worst of all.
If she refs past the first round then she might actually be around average.
The first round can have a lot of games in different places so it makes sense to have more refs available.
What happened to N.O.?
Last year they were this young, hot team. This year they just don’t look nearly as good.

ouch.
’Buike could be a useful player as well— certainly better than Devin Brown.
he's had a fantastic year for them
they got him for nothing off the scrapheap and he probobly won them ~4-5 games. If someone other than Denver picks him up, Portland wins the division with relative ease.

seriously
his season has been so overrated its not even funny.
People don’t realize what a ginormous factor a healthy Nene/KMart/Birdman interior trio has had. Nene arguably should have been Yao’s backup on the allstar team and Chris Anderson is Oden’s competetion for “best backup C in the league…” along with a healthy Kaman (if such a thing ever existed).
Billups is great for that team, but give me a break. He’s not a top 10 player.
