key to game 3 is our bench
we arent seeing nearly the same offensive punch from our bench, and that was supposed to be one of our strengths, we have to get our bench involved and scoring, they average about 35-40% of our regular season points.

I mean coaching comes down to three things (in order of importance):
- Instituting the optimum system for the players you have (sets, rotations, etc).
- Getting players to operate the optimum system.
- Motivating the players to execute at the best of their ability.
Adelman didn’t succeed at #2, unless he really believes that Artest jump shots are the best strategy, in which case he is failing at #1.

My feeling is Houston has played their best game, while we are just starting to improve.

Houston really is this good
Well, Brooks isn’t (he’s good but not THIS good), but Houston is a tremendous team.
Both teams can play better than they did tonight.
If the Blazers don’t lay any more eggs, this will be a competitive series all the way.
Lakers aren't exactly known for their defense

According to one defensive efficiency metric, the Los Angeles Lakers have a top-five defense.
I, however, tend to agree that the Houston Rockets have better wing defenders, although neither Kobe Bryant nor Trevor Ariza are slouches by any stretch of the imagination.

Unless something truly egregious happens, there’s more important things to focus on each game.

It goes both ways with big guys in the paint, with my preference being that the referees call ...
it loosely on both sides of the ball. Heck, some feisty play down low makes for a more entertaining game.
The problem is that is not often called evenly on both sides.
Loosely on both sides is great…when one side gets the call and the other don’t you’re going to have complaining. It’s all relative.
And also...
It’s easy to blame them…you can point out the five times they made the bad call rather than dissect the whole game.

I lean toward the Rockets taking both game 3 and game 4
But never underestimate the Rockets’ ability to lose games in the playoffs. If the Blazers can get hot in one of these games, they can definitely come back tied up.

Houston is the favorite in both games (perhaps 75-25), however Portland has two chances and needs only to cash in one one of them to get back in the driver’s seat.
Using my 75/25 numbers, Portland has slightly less than a 50% chance of stealing 1 of these next 2.
