Quick translation
Ricky Rubio has confirmed that will be declared eligible in next draft of the NBA, after the meeting whith the president of the Joventut, Jordi Villacampa, and the representative of the player for the United States, Give Fegan.
After the meeting, sources next to the player have confirmed that Ricky Rubio has decided "officially" to appear to the process of election of new players of the NBA.
The term to register of formal way in "draft" finishes the next Sunday, 26 of April, although Rubio it will have the possibility of retiring his candidacy up to ten days before the celebration of "draft", scheduled for the 25 of June. The 19 of May the order in which the franchises will choose the players will be known.
The young player of the "Penya" has contract with the DKV Joventut until 2011 and a buyout of six million Euros, reason why only one good position in "draft" would allow him to assume the economic operation to buy his buyout: the first calculations aim at that Ricky Rubio will have to be placed in the three first positions of "draft" to assure its arrival to the NBA.

sucks for joventut losing rubio and rudy in consecutive years.

I think the NBA needs to keep them together
so Joventut has a clear team to put their allegiance to. – Elgin

Good news
Although it could still mean he can pull out if he doesn’t like e.g. the draft order or gets no promise to go at a certain place (as mentioned very late before the draft, later than college players, and international players can declare in three years). And it can still mean he is in the draft, but doesn’t come immediately over.
It's going to be interesting to see how quickly he adjusts.
A euro point guard? That has to be the hardest transition of any kind of player. I am excited though.

More news, DKV Joventut says that the team will not reduce or negotiate the buyout

This one is in catalan guys :) but… more or less….
DKV Joventut announces, after the news on Ricky Rubio declaring for the 2009 draft, that the player still has a two year contract with the team, and the team has informed the player’s representative and the player’s family that the buyout is not going to be modified by the end of this season because of the player leaving the team.
Free Sergio!
Do you know if the buyout decreases each year, or would he have to pay the same if he wanted to come over in 2010?
Contract runs until 2011 if I understand correctly.
The buyout does not decreases, BUT...
DKV Joventut is not going to loose money, this is my opinion. Joventut is one of the midrange teams in ACB league, the team needs money. Next year they will not play the euroleague, this means less income…
As a Joventut manager, is really stupid to let Rubio leave for free in 2011 having the opportunity to get 3-4 millions in 2010… and why not 4-5 this year…
I really think that Joventut is pressing the player representative to make a better offer this year, because we all know that, no matter the sport, an unhappy player is not a good player, and if the team forces Rubio to stay another year or two the situation is not going to be good neither for him or the team.

anyways, if he becomes a 3 top pick, he can afford to pay the buyout
You smell it? You smell it? Playoffs son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of Playoffs in the morning.
Let's make some numbers....
Based on a second pick on the draft….
1st year – 3,715
2nd – 3,994
3d – 4,273
4th (3d + 26,2%) – 5.383
Total – 17.365
taxes (55%) – 9.550
Real Money – 7.815
- Bouyout amount – 7.759
- Withou 0.5 mil from team – 7.259
Result – 0.556 mil salary in four years (ouch!!!)
Other variables, teams can icrease up to 20% the salary… let’s says the team pays Rubio an additional 10%
Total – 19.101
taxes (55%) – 10.505
Real Money – 8.596
- Bouyout amount – 7.759
- Withou 0.5 mil from team – 7.259
Result – 1.337 mil salary in four years (not good enough…)
Rubio will get more money from Nike, McDonald’s (current contracts) and maybe more companies… but the numbers very tight…. anyway, Rubio will have his buyout payed at the age of 23 ready the free agency… Not a bad future
I think it’s done, Rubio will play in the NBA next year.

He said he’s coming this year.
He also talks about his talks with Rudy during the season, and that he told him not to let anybody decide for him.
