I was crunching the numbers and if they fall any further, there's a good chance they might end up in the fourth seed, which would, I think, be the worst first-round matchup possible for the Blazers. First-time playoff contenders vs. one of the most polished post-season machines in the league? Yikes. Even if they go on a horrible skid to close out the season, you know the Spurs will bring it come playoff-time.
Of course, if the Blazers do really well, maybe they can overtake the Spurs (and this is assuming the Rockets also close the season on the decline.) But frankly, I see a greater likelihood of us doing just decent, which puts the Spurs right next to us in the standings. Or am I just being too pessimistic?
