A friend sent me this link yesterday
Because he knows about my ‘interactions’ with John about CBA and salary issues over the years, I thought the link was an April Fool’s joke, but it looks to be legitimate.
Congratulations to John! When he’s writing human interest pieces, he’s in his element. And when he’s writing about the CBA and NBA player salaries, he should get back to writing human interest pieces.

John Canzano is a poor man's Rick Reilly, which certainly isn't a compliment.

Rick Reilly's sense of humor is stuck in some sort of time warp, however.
Similarly to Bill Simmons, Reilly just doesn’t grasp contemporary pop culture.

I hate his Human Interest pieces
Obvioulsly once in a while is fine, but Canzano is a Metro/Living section writer that somehow landed at the sports desk.
His writing style is great, but he’s a bigger buzz-kill than Buzz Killington.

Some of those stories seem to be about the Olympics
I must admit I didn’t follow the Oregonian’s coverage there at all, but not bad for a regional newspaper to send a sports columnist there. And apparently he did a good job to cover it. Congratulations to John.
And may Quick win it next year for his detailed background stories over the summer and “behind the locker room door” :)

I wonder if he will talk about it for his entire show today?
My favorite teams are the Blazers and any team that is playing the Lakers.

There is great radio show on NPR from 3-6pm… it’s called “All Things Considered”. Not a lot of sports stories, but most of the information is very interesting and sometimes it even makes you think. And there isn’t much in the way of overhyping or staging pointless debates to try and drum up phonecalls from the listeners.
I highly recommend this program. It’s a nice way to break up your day after spending the previous nine hours listening to the MSP, Rome, and Wheels (or Colin if that’s your preference)… and it gives you something else to talk about besides the Blazers or sports with friends and family (and they’ll thank you for it).
