NBA Refs, who do they REALLY work for?

Nearly every time I sit down and watch an NBA game I crack up at the refereeing. Sometimes when the terrible calls/non-calls  don't go against our team its rather amusing that they can be so far off it's like they're kidding and about to laugh and go, "My bad, I'm just playin!"

Take a moment and think about how often times a whole arena, two teams, and two entire coaching staffs can see an obvious hack, travel, double dribble or any other horrific call or non-call, yet three refs all coincidentally miss it. Seriously, just picture that.

Now I understand the NBA is an incredibly fast-moving game and it may be easy for one of us to get some calls wrong, but these are "highly skilled and trained" proffessionals who are relied on to call a fair game so that the better team on any given night will win.

Basketball is a game made up of runs and momentum. Two or three bad calls in a row in a tight game can completely dampen a hot team, or flare up tempers and completely change the outcome of what should have been a perfectly enjoyable game(only two or three bad calls in a PORTLAND game would be a friggen BLESSING, I realize this).

Where is the accountability for these terrible referees? Who gets fined, suspended or fired for changing the outcome of a game or a series? Besides the fall-guy Tim Donaghy, no one that we hear of...am I missing something? Do we really get upset that our team just got screwed by a bunch of untouchables and NO ONE will speak out in the media? Well they might insert a blip about a coach being upset about the officiating but will never come out and say, "Man they got screwed!"

Why will no one with a national voice speak up and demand accountability?!
