Screw You Thank You Threads
It is time for the Trail Blazers to get mean. We have a very tough playoff series ahead of us, and as great and mushy as it was to thank everyone it is time to get real, and aggressive.
Great job by everyone involved with the Thank You threads.. but it must stop, and it must stop now... Lets get some real energy going here, lets show how badly we want to beat the Rockets, and then the L*kers.
So Screw you Thank You threads, you had a good run.. But it's time to go.

If people agree with this idea that is okay.
But instead of pushing another post of the main page, perhaps this conversation could be had in a thread that is already talking about this very issue?

Sure the title may not have caught your attention, but it’s there. And with a bazillion new fanposts in the last two days, any duplication is repetitive, duplicating and redundant.
Of all the things that can be expressed in the printed word – love, hate, fear, joy – true humor is the one that is the most difficult of all. Sarcasm, for example, is an art of delicate subtlety. Yet too many people wield it as a bulldozer – loud, smelly, ugly, and destructive – and think they are being funny.

I'm a little grinchy myself tonight, so forgive me, but I have to say it.
Sitting on top of the recommended fanpost section at the top of the page “Screw You Thank You Posts” Now, every person who visits Blazer’s Edge will be greeted by those words, “Screw You”. Some will find it funny. Some will find it offensive. Some will say “Meh.” But how do you undo the first impression? Way to represent the work of Dave and Ben to the rest of the world. Way to represent Blazers’ Edge.

I know.
And for that I apologize.
And I know that no one is meaning any harm, but the sidebar is getting ridiculous. 90% of it could end up in the Junk Drawer and we wouldn’t miss it. But people want to have their thoughts read and commented on, and that doesn’t happen in the JD quite as well. It’s starting to feel like this place is turning into the O-live forum, and that makes me sad and angry, and down.

Well trust me
I had no idea about any anti thank you posts when I made this. However the thought is in line with what i meant by this post.
Lets clean up the posts, and kill these repetitive posts. Sorry that my post was part of that.

I just kind of ended up here. Thanks for letting me get some stuff off of my chest in your thread.

Time to bring on the "Player X will kick the Rockets butts" threads
Greg Oden = Robert Parish (HOF, 4x NBA champion, 9x NBA All-Star). The only other rookie with more than 500 points, 400 rebounds, and 65 blocks in under 1400 minutes played. Since 1946.

Wow
My intentions were to create a platform in which we all could express our graditude for the whole roster…..lets be clear, this is a special team……..and i wanted these posts to be less about my personal insight and thoughts and more about the sites insight and thoughts. I meant them to be “overviews” and limited because i hoped the moajority of the insight and entertainment would lie in what the site had to say about each player.
Never was it my intention or purpose to create a negative impact to this site. I had considered stopping the posts due to all the negative feedback and wrote a post to that piont. I got VERY posative encouragement from alot of good people and decided to finish what i started.
I ended these posts today with Roy like i had allways planned. I hoped to save the best for last, Roy, LMA, and Nate. As it turns out it was a bad idea and created a distraction from what needs to be focused on. Thats is: We had an awsome year, this was a great team maybe the best since the Drexler glory years and we need to be %100 behind them going into the playoffs.
My goal was to give thanks for the REGULAR season which is over now and to get these “thank you” posts out of the way before the playoffs…..which painful as it was for some people has been acomplished. I am sorry for any negative experience i gave anyone. Go Blazers, beat houston!

whoa whoa whoa
we all apreciate the thank you threads!! It’s just time to move beyond them and get tough, time to be a playoff team.

I hear you and agree
Just that there has been alot of negative feedback for something that was important for me and i thought was important to other fans, and that to express our gratitude for a freaking awsome year. I ment it in the most good hearted way and it has been turned into an “issue.” I feel very bad for that, my reasoning for starting these posts when i did was to get them done before the playoffs because once its playoff time thats all there is. To anyone who apreciated or liked them thank you, anyone who disliked them for any reason i am sincerly sorry.

Honestly
I haven’t seen any issue about it. I have loved all the “Thank you” threads.. I tend to ignore the negative threads, and I apologize if this has qualified as a negative thread… I was just trying to use the momentum to build some anger for the team, which I think we need. I dont really mean screw you, or your fanposts, because I love em, I just mean Go Blazers… Get agrressive.

How, exactly, does this discussion contribute to the site?
If someone has a problem with the thank you threads, don’t read them. They easy to identify and easy to skip. For some of the fans, they have been important and very much appreciated; for others they have been redundant. You could same the same thing about the 500 trade posts, 400 Outlaw sucks posts, and every single junk drawer thread posted.
LOTS of silly posts push “important” threads off the page. Targeting the thank you posts seems mean-spirited.
by Corvid on Apr 16, 2009 9:29 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
and if you don't like the screw you thread
then don’t read it…Personally I likes it…I rec’d it…

Hmmmmm
Due to the shocking number of posts I’ll re-post what I said earlier here:
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>_____________________<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
The last few days has seen an interesting phenomenon. I am, of course, talking about the ever popular “Thank You” threads. It started out innocently enough, but then something happened.
(Big booming announcer voice) HUMAN EGO!!!!!!!!
It was actually a little surprising at first, but there was a lot of venom on the BEdge on this one. Once the volume of the posts increased (parodies and serious ones) it started to cloud the whole fanpost bar. I’m actually surprised D & B didn’t step in. It’s not that anything was particularly out of hand except that the sheer number of these types of posts soon dominated the whole sidebar. This would normaly not be such a bad thing, but oftentimes the “thank you” posts were vague, silly, uninsightful or just plain bad. There were some not too bad, but really. Enough was enough.
On both sides.
I did the best I could to avoid clicking on any of them (I think the Nate one and the JD one) but for a few days there was good content being rushed off the page by Rec Hogs. We had a Rec’ing Ball at Blazers edge.
I know that we are all very grateful, but the season is not over yet. I really think we had some Premature Rec’ulation here, that would have been better served once the Blazers are done with the playoffs.
Anyone else with me on this? Let’s have one more Rec’ing Ball!!!
I know less than half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

I would just like to point out
that of the 25 fanposts in my sidebar, the oldest is 12 hours old. Not only that, but 15 of the 20 under “recent fanposts” have precisely 0 rec’s. According to sitemeter we will have a little under 20,000 visits a day. This means that out of 20,000 people, not one thinks that 60% (15 unrec’ed / ( 20 recent + 5 recommended) ) of the fanshots on this site are really worth discussing.
