Every child must be encouraged to get as much education as he has the ability to take. We want this not only for his sake-but for the nation's sake. Nothing matters more to the future of our country: not military preparations-for armed might is worthless if we lack the brain power to build a world of peace; not our productive economy-for we cannot sustain growth without trained manpower; not our democratic system of government-for freedom is fragile if citizens are ignorant.

On this play, the team is correct to feed Oden in the post.

OMG I just jizzed in my France
Okay, I advise keeping the ball out of Travis Outlaw's hands the entire quarter.
I’m sick and tired of ill-advised mid-range jumpers, even though he makes a few of those stupid attempts.

I stopped watching the game at the half, and when I came back, we’d given up a 20-6 run. Once I started watching again, the Blazers let down the hammer. I promise I won’t let that happen again, friends.

I don't think that is correct.
If Houston had one more win they would be tied with SA and would be the 3 seed. We would be the 5
No one else probably cares
But I do. We have a legitimate shot to become the 3rd spot in Hollinger’s rankings. As of yesterday’s action, Orlando was at number 3 with 106.188. They beat Charlotte (17,99.561) by 25 at home. We were at number 4 with 106.026, and beat Denver (7, 103.932) by 28. I dunno exactly how his numbers work, but that could be enough to push us over the top.

second round Western Conference playoff action:
Here are the second round match-ups, my predictions:
Lakers vs. Dallas
Blazers vs. Nuggets
In the first round, Lakers beat Utah, Nuggs beat N.O., Dallas beats San Antonio, and Blazers beat Houston.
So tonight’s game was a preview of second round action. And we totally dominated!
WCF: Blazers vs. Lakers.
Of course, we first gotta beat Houston in the first round. That might be kinda tough. They match up well against us and their defense is phenomenal. Artest and Battier and Yao. Nate better game-plan this one carefully.

Breaking news
Blazers open playoffs on Saturday at 7:30. They play Tuesday at 7, Friday at 6:30, and Sunday at 6.

Sigh. I knew when Finley's shot went in, we were going to end up on Saturday.
Off to go find tickets and hotel…

Greg Oden = Robert Parish (HOF, 4x NBA champion, 9x NBA All-Star). The only other rookie with more than 500 points, 400 rebounds, and 65 blocks in under 1400 minutes played. Since 1946.

Respect!
Watching the game on ESPN tonight, we sure got a lot of praise from the announcers. Granted it helps when you destroy the competition and your bench almost outscored the entire opponets team, but it was nice to FINALLY hear some nice things from the national guys.
They usually say good things about us. The only idiots are the halftime analyists.

will we be favored? we may be getting some media love now, but wait till they pick who wins the series...
I can see us being on the wrong side the “upset” pick… It’ll be like Kenny: “Charles, what is your upset pick for the first round.” Barkley: “I gotta go with Yao Ming and the Rockets over the young Blazers”… It almost seems like it wouldn’t even be much of an upset given Houston has been there so many times, yet fallen short every time… They are gonna be hungry.. Oh man I’m gonna HATE rooting against Aaron Brooks..

I'm most curious about the oddsmakers
This could be an interesting betting series. I could be close to even.
Houston has no closer
and that’s often important in the playoffs. I think the oddsmakers will account for that.

What's the closest they do have to a closer?
Yao? Von Wafer? Artest?
Not sarcasm… actually wondering.
