Every child must be encouraged to get as much education as he has the ability to take. We want this not only for his sake-but for the nation's sake. Nothing matters more to the future of our country: not military preparations-for armed might is worthless if we lack the brain power to build a world of peace; not our productive economy-for we cannot sustain growth without trained manpower; not our democratic system of government-for freedom is fragile if citizens are ignorant.

He is a rather ugly beast of a forward.

Always gives Portland fits. Perhaps Oden can “accidentally” punch him in the face too. I’m worried about the former Blazer Von Wafer though.

Henry Abbott sees the positive
HENRY ABBOTT: Mark from the Painted Area just points out: Homecourt in the playoffs, for Portland, comes down to that ridiculous long 3 that Brandon Roy made in the early days of the season, to beat the Rockets. That prayer misses, and Portland has to win in Houston.

Greg Oden = Robert Parish (HOF, 4x NBA champion, 9x NBA All-Star). The only other rookie with more than 500 points, 400 rebounds, and 65 blocks in under 1400 minutes played. Since 1946.

But I do. We have a legitimate shot to become the 3rd spot in Hollinger’s rankings. As of yesterday’s action, Orlando was at number 3 with 106.188. They beat Charlotte (17,99.561) by 25 at home. We were at number 4 with 106.026, and beat Denver (7, 103.932) by 28. I dunno exactly how his numbers work, but that could be enough to push us over the top.

second round Western Conference playoff action:

Here are the second round match-ups, my predictions:

Lakers vs. Dallas

Blazers vs. Nuggets

In the first round, Lakers beat Utah, Nuggs beat N.O., Dallas beats San Antonio, and Blazers beat Houston.

So tonight’s game was a preview of second round action. And we totally dominated!

WCF: Blazers vs. Lakers.

Of course, we first gotta beat Houston in the first round. That might be kinda tough. They match up well against us and their defense is phenomenal. Artest and Battier and Yao. Nate better game-plan this one carefully.

Greg Oden = Robert Parish (HOF, 4x NBA champion, 9x NBA All-Star). The only other rookie with more than 500 points, 400 rebounds, and 65 blocks in under 1400 minutes played. Since 1946.

Respect!

Watching the game on ESPN tonight, we sure got a lot of praise from the announcers. Granted it helps when you destroy the competition and your bench almost outscored the entire opponets team, but it was nice to FINALLY hear some nice things from the national guys.

will we be favored? we may be getting some media love now, but wait till they pick who wins the series...

I can see us being on the wrong side the “upset” pick… It’ll be like Kenny: “Charles, what is your upset pick for the first round.” Barkley: “I gotta go with Yao Ming and the Rockets over the young Blazers”… It almost seems like it wouldn’t even be much of an upset given Houston has been there so many times, yet fallen short every time… They are gonna be hungry.. Oh man I’m gonna HATE rooting against Aaron Brooks..
