Why B-Roy is cooler than K*be... as if you need another reason

Remember how tough everyone thought K*be was for playing with an injured pinky finger?  It seemed like everyone and their mom was writing article about the most famous little manicured finger in the World.

http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-lakers15feb15,1,5194565.story

In fact last year there was even talk of Kobe missing the playoffs for a ligament tear in his pinky finger.

Fast forward to right now and there is no ESPN.com article about Roy's pinky finger.  Sure the folks at Oregonlive and BlazersEdge made a mention but it wasn't some huge breaking story.  I guess everything L*ker is aggrandized and hyped to the max.  I can't tell you how nice it is to have a superstar like Roy to root for.  He doesn't use his little finger as an excuse... he just goes out and plays.

Well

After making such a big deal out of it, K*be’s play kind of showed everyone that it’s an injury that you can actually get through, so it lost it’s luster. The bigger story would have been if Roy had gone down, then you’d hear the calls from the opposite side.

And I need no more reasons to think Roy is cooler than K*be, but they’re always nice to hear!

Absolutely!

Anything Roy does or has makes it automatically cooler than what K*be does or has.

Blatant homerism FTW!!!

For the record

Kobe virtually never talked about it. When he did, it was reluctantly, and only when pestered with questions about it. And he never once used it as an excuse.

However, I’ll grant you that the MSM mentioned it every time they wrote a Lakers-related article for the rest of the year. Put the blame where it belongs, though.

the media enjoys playing their own story line. It sells regardless on it’s connection to reality.

Also in fairness

Bryant’s pinky was broken.

Despite suffering a torn tendon and broken bone in his right pinkie, Kobe Bryant will play in Sunday night’s NBA All-Star Game, according to a Los Angeles Lakers spokesperson.

and more
Bryant initially hurt his finger Feb. 5 in a game against New Jersey. The injury was originally listed as a dislocated pinkie, although further damage was revealed Thursday, including a complete tear of the radial collateral ligament and an avulsion fracture, in which a small fragment of bone was pulled off by a tendon.

Agreed

And one has a ligament tear (that will need surgery at some time), while the other one has a tendon tear (that likely won’t).

Greg Oden = Robert Parish (HOF, 4x NBA champion, 9x NBA All-Star). The only other rookie with more than 500 points, 400 rebounds, and 65 blocks in under 1400 minutes played. Since 1946.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
