Blazer Tattoo
So I've been thinking for about a year now that I want to get a tattoo, but I couldn't decide what to get. It would have to be something that I would never look back on and regret. Something I would always cherish and appreciate, even when I was old and wrinkled.
And it's finally come to me. The Blazers are the one interest I have that I can truly say has been a lifelong passion. Growing up in Portland, I have dreamed of a championship as far back as I can remember. I will never stop cheering for our team, no matter what happens, (that was tested during the dark days and jail blazer eras). So it's only fitting that my first and potentially only tattoo would be in memorium of that dream.
A couple questions for my fellow BEdge maniacs. I was thinking about getting the logo and a championship trophy, while leaving space to list the years. Obviously the 1976-77 team would the first date. But do you think I should get the tattoo before they win again, or in honor of the championship in my lifetime? On the one hand, I think it's a great way to support the team, and show my confidence in their ability to fufill the dream. But since I wasn't alive for the first ring, it also seems kind of hollow.
I haven't settled on a specific design, and who knows I may change my mind and get a B-Roy/Drexler tatt instead. But how about you guys? Who has Blazer ink? And is anyone else considering getting some, especially if they win a championship?
Edit - I forgot to add that part of what inspired me was the Cee-Lo Green lyric:
"And what I believe within, I engrave within my skin."

I'd just get the logo and save room for the trophy
What if it took four years for the team to win one? You might look silly until then. Also it would be cheaper in baby steps.
get the logo, the championship trophy and the year you think we're gonna win it
and get it tomorrow.
might as well put it all on the line.
Old school pinwheel
Don’t go with new tilted wheel, stay true.

People might think that the old school pinwheel
was what was in effect when you got the tatoo. Then they might conclude you were getting Blazer tatoos as an infant. Which would be weird, but also freakin AWESOME.
I'd go with the upright pinwheel.
and please, please, PLEASE don’t get the trophy. That’s a jinx if I’ve ever heard of one. Wait until if (when?) it happens.
I've got a uofo O below my neck line
just about 6 inches across, black and white. I wanted what it sounds like you’re going for, something that I can be happy with at every stage of my life. I think the pinwheel is a great idea (I want one too!) but it might be better to wait for the trophy. That’s a cool idea, but we can’t celebrate until we’ve won. This could become a cool tradition for you if, after every championship the Blazers win, you go back into the same tattoo parlor and get an update with the year and our latest victim’s logo. Any thoughts on where you want it?
PLAYOFFS... sounds good, don't it?
My buddy knows some sick artists in Salem
But it seems like it should be done in P-Town.
Blazers Prophecy.
3-5 championships in next decade.
You heard it here first.

What if you get a tatoo and
Blazers move to Crystal Springs Mississippi? You’d have to get another tat that says RobertSwift2.
—Actually you should just keep it simple, like the pin wheel or other logo. I would avoid numbers. When we win multiple championships, you gonna put all those on there too? Could get messy and expensive.

Mon dieu!!
Can you imagine how many Sonics fans have tatoos?
That’s like a tatoo of an old girlfriend who got hooked on meth, stole your money and burned your house to the ground – and you are reminded of her EVERY. DAY.
Get a red, white, and black
slanted band across your forearm. A little more subtle, and would definitely look good. Then if they get championships, you could get a colored write-over with the date on top of the bands.

It's hard for something Blazer's related`
but I’ve been told that red is a color that people often react unfavorably to. I know I did

Dont get the trophy
That will not turn out all that well as it will be mostly pigment and not a lot of actual ink
best tattooist in town is Scott Harrison at Atlas tattoo. He is not from Portland nor is he a sports fan, but he is a cool guy who tattooed Scottie Pippen’s olympic rings
PS No need to call tattoos tats or ink. Tattoo works just fine.
Life is exhausting when you are this stupid.
Get a "L*ker's kiss" one also
on your buttocks while you are at it….uh, maybe not…. but it’s the thought that counts
Here is my Playoff mode signature, that I thought up myself: "Just Do It".
Hmm.... maybe not...
the Tat guy might be a L*ker fan and “accidentally” put “L*kers kick” instead….

As someone who has a Blazers tat already, let me say...
IT’S FREAKIN’ AWESOME!!!!
It’s one of the best things I’ve ever done, and it gets a great reaction. My ex loved it, and even though she’s married now she tells me she still fantasizes about running her fingers over it tracing the lines. But I digress…
Do it. Find a good artist in Portland if you can. Apparently the guy who did mine up in Battle Ground is no longer there.
You won’t regret it
(PS – Andy found me @ the Philly game just by seeing my tat, so it’s that obvious)
Blazers win!
Just get something from Clae Welch at Historic Tattoo. His stuff will blow you away. He is not a tattooist, he is an artist. Your skin is his palate.
He straight up tells you when you’re talking about what you want that the finished product is going to look a little different than you think it is, because his stuff is so beautiful the gun just flows and your tattoo gets a little busier. But schedule early with him. He is always booked 8-12 months in advance. People fly in to portland to get done by him. He’s that good.
