Around SBN: Jerry Sandusky's Wife Tries To Run A Reporter Over

Okay so I know these rankings don't mean anything. But I still thought this was pretty cool. And we are closer to the Magic in the three spot than we are to the Celtics in 5th. We've gone over this before, they are hardly reliable, what do they really show, etc. etc. But hey, we're in 4th.

I think it shows two things

The Blazers have had a strong year overall.
The Blazers are finishing the last part of their schedule better than any other team, which is shown by the league leading +7.71 average point differential in the last 20 games.

An interesting thing to note would be the L*kers +7.6 average point differential on the season. The Blazers, by one measure, are playing as well as the best team in the West.

where did you find the info for the last 20 games?

I hope I can get a bunch of championships, like 15. " - Greg Oden

Yeah

I was actually planning to go back and do the math for a post. If the info exists somewhere, i want.

The goal is not to be better, the goal is to be the best.

One of the factors in the formula is point differential over the last 25%

If you go through and look at the individual components, one of them will say something like “diff. L25%”. That’s the number we’re talking about.

Yeah, looking at it and saw that

there’s a note for the last ten games and it’s not up there. Too bad. I’d really be interested in that stat.

The goal is not to be better, the goal is to be the best.

To answer my question

the blazers are +15 in the last ten games

Pho – 129-109 : +20
Mem – 86-66 : +20
Uta – 125-104: +21
OKC – 107-72: +25
Hou – 88-102: -14
Mem – 96-93: +3
SA – 95-83: +12
LAL – 106-98: +8
LAC – 87-72: +15
OKC – 113-83: +30

The goal is not to be better, the goal is to be the best.

OKC Correction

We beat OKC by 35 the first meeting. You got the math right, just put down the wrong number.

by TheArmada on Apr 14, 2009 12:04 PM PDT up reply actions

Our average margin of victory is 5.06

making us 5th in the league.

The reason Hollinger has been all over the Blazers lately is because of this. I don’t know the numbers, but historically teams with the biggest average margin of victory have postseason success.

But I like to be here. Oh, I like it a lot! Said the Cat in the Hat. To the fish in the pot.

Yeah he weights Margin a lot in his formula

And I was pretty surprised we were that high in margin as well. Although the last couple weeks have helped :p

Blazers are warming up at just the right time.

Bodes very well

Hollinger’s formula takes grief from all angles, but its performance has been pretty solid. A couple years ago, when everyone was hyping the league leading Mavs, Hollinger’s formula had the Spurs number one starting in February. We all know what happened – first round exit for Dallas, rings all around in SA.

Closing in on Orlando

Our rating comes in at 106.024 while Orlando (number 3) is 106.184.

If we trounce Denver while giant-killer Charlotte beats Orlando we may climb even higher!

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
