NBA investigates Portland

Apparently there was a bit of a problem with us showing the hit on Rudy before we played them on Friday night. Something about not showing flagrant fouls to get a rise out of the home crowd.

Good Investment if you ask me

I really dont think anyone in the arena needed to be reminded of who did what to who for how many cookies. Ariza would have been booed if we showed him performing CPR on the Pope before the game.

Oh my. The big, bad Blazers are being mean to the poor, heroic Lakers.

I’ll say it again. Just shameful.

OK!

so the implication is that these insidious videos will incite the savage Portlanders into rioting or rushing the floor and tearing Ariza into pieces right? Eat dung Phil Jackson. The entertainment The L*kers provide amounts to daycare for a nation of spoiled brats. I wish this circus act would stop interfering with my enjoyment of the game of basketball.

how DARE we do this.

It’s ok to put Rudy in the hospital, shame on all of you for the way you acted. To remind Ariza what he had to go through with that vicious out of nowhere Blazer attack is just not right.

People were lining up to give him hugs and flowers before the game and then this video is shown and the poor guy is made into some sort of bad guy.

Him getting boo’d is much worse than what he did to Rudy, much much worse.

It's funny...

Phil complains about the video because he says it negatively affected Ariza’s game. So is he basically calling Ariza soft? The video really hurt his feelings to the point that he couldn’t focus on basketball?

No need to show the play

There is a reason they don’t allow teams to show them and Phil has a right to at least point out that it wasn’t the best choice by the Blazers. Did it make a difference? No. Nobody had forgotten what happened. Phil will try to use it as motivation for his team or to try to gain some sway with officials or something but Phil will be Phil.

Another possibility though is that the Blazers were trying to calm the crowd down. I mean Laker fans have been saying, “Just watch the replay” and we will all see how he was going for the ball and it was just a hard foul. Right?

That is a good point

All the Lakers say just watch the replay to prove their point …..then bitch when it is shown. Typical LA….Typical

yeah, sort of having it both ways

The Blazers response should be that it’s either 1) an inciteful, flagrant foul or 2) just a clean, hard foul which no one should have a problem watching. Lakers get to pick which it is.

PS, is “inciteful” a word? If it’s not, I’m copyrighting it.

Hahahah! So what? Pay the fine and move on.

I am glad Larry Miller played it….it is worth the cost. Plus, now, with continued talk of this non-story, The Lakers just look like whining sore losers.

Also, I see the LA Times showed the same foul to accompany the story. Does Phil object to that, too?

Phil's successfully having fun with Portland fans this year

And i suspect he did this latest thing to call out Ariza’s getting flustered by the crowd friday.

LA

is so pathetic. Jackson has been trying to portray us as the evil team from up north since 2000 when he whined about PA’s deep pockets. Right cause they’re aren’t any supplemental and valuable endorsement deals in LA that could lure a once in a life time center like Shaq all the way from Florida right? Right? Phil is scared of Portland and I like that.

I love it. It smells like a rivalry.

I want them to hate us, despise, to understand what we feel for them. And then…. I want to shove it down their throats with a playoff trouncing. That’s revenge!!!! I don’t expect it, but it’s what I want.

I’m not supposed to want that, but it’s sports, a game. It’s fun to have this sort of thing in a manner that doesn’t mean any real personal harm. As long as when it’s all over we can resist throwing throwing a punch, that’ll be perfect.

It’s that type of bitter rivalry that becomes legendary and even gels into solidarity in the future.

i've got to agree with you on a rivalry

I mean the L@kers thing is in good fun. It’s fun to have that rivalry and rib friends who are laker fans and have them buy me lunches when the blazers win. It makes the game even more interesting. I don’t really hate the lakers as much as I used to. They’re even fun to watch at times and I appreciate Kobes killer instinct. Still, this will be the only time you’ll EVER hear me say this. For i love to hate the team with a vengeance. Back to the normally scheduled hatred.

Phil may have a point

Frankly inciting mobs can be a dangerous thing. People tend to not think in mobs and adding fuel to that fire doesn’t help.

On the other hand, I think Phil is a big baby and he shouldn’t complain if he can’t bother to show up at the game. I guess his behind is still sore from the butt kicking. Reached him all the way down in LA it was so bad.

The goal is not to be better, the goal is to be the best.

This is the coach

who once compared Rick Adelman to Adolf Hitler, remember? (Probably because of the moustache Adelman used to wear…)

Technically, the Blazers did do something wrong—a league rule prohibits replaying flagrant fouls, fights, and such. But I wouldn’t expect much to come from it—and given that no Blazer players this year have sent opposing players to the hospital. That seems to be a problem with the Lakers.

I have not yet begun to defile myself.
