No Thank You

This season has been one of the best i can remember and i have been a life long fan. I thought about doing a team thank you post at one time but it didnt convey my gratitude fully so i got the idea to post individual "thank you" posts for each player. The first two were IMO the most solid and unsung players on the team, Nic Batum and Joel Pryzbilla. They were recced well and got a generally good reception. Then i posted a few more even though in a few posts some of you voiced your dislike for the posts. Things like wrong timing and needing to be more creative were among the issues with others. Then some people found the need to post Mock "thank you" posts.(some people posted there own "thank you" posts but...some were mocking) This was classless and unlike my entire Bedge experience to this point.

If you disliked any of my posts i am sincerly sorry, i had an overwhelming need to express my gratitude for an awsome bunch of guys. I thought it was a good idea to create a platform for us all to express that gratitude and the experience was discouraging to say the least. I had no illusions that all of us would like these posts i just though that those who didnt like them would just simply not read them, I had no clue people would react the way they did. For that again let me say I am sorry. I had intended to leave Roy, LMA, and Nate thank you posts for the last ones. I will not be posting these and i will not post any other fanposts about other subjects. I love this site and will continue to read the thoughts and posts of others because we as Blazer fans have alot of great insight and ideas. I just lack the desire to post any of my own insight or ideas due to the experience of these last few days.

I do not mean this to sound like a "poor me" message, i truely want to apologize for creating an unpleasant environment for any fellow Blazer fans. The posts became "excruciating" and i am honestly sorry for that. I would ask that this be the last i say about it. On a different note: We beat the Clips tonight which gives us 52 wins, that hope for the division lives by a thread. Go Blazers!!!!

Have we been spoiled?

I kind of noticed this too. I mean, I appreciate all of the creativity and effort so many of you put into what I read on this site, but maybe we’ve been spoiled. BlazerBeliever’s thank you posts were heartfelt, if not up to the high standards of wit and reference we’ve all been conditioned to. I, for one, appreciate that he took the time to write and post them.

For those of you who took the time to use your creativity to mock BlazerBeliever’s efforts, I believe you owe him/her (sorry) an apology, and next time you would be better served to use your talents in a more constructive manner.

There, I said it.

The mocking posts weren't so much mocking BB, they were mocking the actual players

Ruffin: He’s been in the NBA for nearly a decade and has never averaged above 2 points per game in any season.

Channing: This is his fourth season and his points per game have declined each year. He peaked his rookie year.

by tominrehab on Apr 11, 2009 11:22 PM PDT up reply actions

Thanks, but no thanks?

I liked them, even the mocking ones.

I think you should still make one for every player on the team. One per day or so seems fine. There are plenty of other crappy posts on here (especially the ones trying to sell tickets—this isn’t Craigslist people).

If you don’t do it, somebody else will. But if you’re still wondering whether to do it or not, you’ve got my vote.

by tominrehab on Apr 11, 2009 11:20 PM PDT reply actions

Agree. I liked the real ones they were fun and warm hearted.

If they were really pieces of drivel, no one would have put forth the effort to mock them. For me the mockery ones were hilarious, but that fun experience had nothing to do with blazersbeliever personally. He just set those experiences up well. Real and silly they were all fun.

Seriously though, bb, that stuff you were going through can be tough, but it’s the sort of thing a leader has to go through. And that is exactly what you were when you were making all of this: a leader.

by staylost on Apr 12, 2009 12:31 PM PDT up reply actions

BB is also "The Decider" apparently

… he decided to keep posting.

More leading and deciding… I like that.

To be honest

I felt like doing a thank you to each player was a bit corny (could have been all done in one post) but what you do is up to you. I don’t think you need to apologize for it.

don’t worry about the haters.

Dude

I enjoyed the TY posts very much, even the “mock” ones which I think were just a bit of fun and not really meant to be rude. Anything positive about the Blazers is always appreciated here, so I hope you change your mind and write more TY posts.

Blazerbeliever,

I haven’t yet read all of your things, but honestly, I just want to apologize on behalf of decent Bedgers everywhere. I’ve enjoyed your posts around here, and I thought it was a cool idea to post a thing for each player so that each of us could express appreciation for each player individually.

I think it’s obvious that you weren’t “rec fishing” or just trying to get your name in lights…..they were honest posts. I admit I didn’t read ALL of them, but if they were anything like the first few, you have nothing to apologize for.

I might have a problem with you posting a bazillion fanposts if you were brand new around here and just wanted to make a name for yourself or something, but you’re a regular, and you’ve written some excellent pieces, like your Blazers’ draft history post…and even your trade proposals have seem fairly balanced and in a respectful way…not like OMGSH TRADE (insert player here)!!!!11 HE SUXXX….

Anyway, I just wanted to express my appreciation for ya’ and say I’m sorry if you got yelled at. From the few posts of yours I’ve ran into, I certainly haven’t seen anything that would warrant any negative thoughts whatsoever…seriously, I don’t know what was said, but if it warranted this….

I just lack the desire to post any of my own insight or ideas due to the experience of these last few days.

that’s just ridiculous…completely ridiculous. So let me say honestly, that whatever you saw was not the Bedge spirit. It’s one thing to disagree with someone or to skip over their post because you aren’t interested. It’s another to belittle someone to the point that they don’t want to post fanposts again. That’s just not how we roll around here. A true Bedger doesn’t act like a L*ker fan ;-)

well the posts didn't really bother me

nor did I read any of them. It was all a little trite for my tastes. Nor do I think the players care.

But I do think it’s clear that the OP is taking both sides of this too seriously.
In his thank you posts, there was a clear tone of “you like me, you really like me,” as he noted that previous posts had been recced, so he was going to write more.

And now there a clear tone of “I’m taking my ball and going home, you bullies.”

It’s the internet, people are mean, people are nice, and ultimately, you’ve just gotta do what you want (assuming you maintain a basic level of decency). It’s not world peace after all.

It's a law of the internet that 5% of the most active posters on any site

will be complete douchenozzles or worse.Ignore them. The “thank you” posts were just fine and a much better reading than the stat geek crew’s constant demands for trades or their letting us know what level of player production they’re willing to accept, before they, before they…well they never say actually, but you know what I mean.

Anyway, There are some people in the world who simply cannot just enjoy the ride, be glad you don’t have to live in their heads.

really sorry for the multiple misplaced comments. A good sign to shut it down

I had no problem with the thank you posts – a healthy exercise in expressing gratitude.

Why do we fall down ?

So we can write more good posts, I liked them, I thought they were simple and straight to the point.
They weren’t trying to be flashy, wordy or to clever . I’d like to read more.

Thanks.

Happy Easter BB

I think that you’re doing fine. I think that I’m part of the silent majority I believe exists. I enjoyed your posts. You put yourself out there and got a lot of positive results and some negative ones too. Thicken your skin and ficus on the guys like me. And finish what you started! I’m going to be disappointed if I don’t get to contribute to the last couple of strings. You’re doing fine.

Just a suggestion,

perhaps you could consider making one nice big thank you post with paragraphs for each player/member of the staff left to thank? I think maybe some people don’t like it put into several posts because it knocks things down the main page.
I think what you’ve written is nice and I hope someone shows the players the sincere posts and comments.

Was for each post to allow everyone on the site to express gratitude to each player individually in the comments.

Thank you all

Especially you Dave for taking time out of your lives to make me feel better and instilling confidence that what i was doing was more good than bad. I sincerly appreciate everyones comments and it has given me the “want” to finish the “thank you” posts.

Again thank you all very much, you all should see a Thank you Troutlaw post here ina little while. Go Blazers!!

I have no problems with these posts.

And to all the people who do have a problem with them: if you don’t like them, you don’t have to read them. You can just skip right over them. And if you have a problem with them because they push stories off the sidebar, then guess what? You can just click the see all fanposts link and they are all archived right there! So if you have a problem with it, be mature about it; don’t hate on other people’s hard work and thoughtfulness.

Can I get a headband? One for my peeps, one for the fans in the really cheap seats, one for my momma, one for the mayor, and if you wanna get down with the players, YOU GOTTA GET A HEADBAND!

Hey BB--don't sweat it, and don't take it so personal.

Most of your feedback was positive….keep posting. Dave does a good job of policing for the really inappropriate stuff, and people are allowed to express opinions if they don’t agree…

It's spelled "PRZYBILLA."

We've always teased each other.

You were doing a big thing and you should keep on doing it. Of course people are going to tease you…

If people tease you or make mock posts you’ve gotta love it too. They are only doing it because you are a big part of what is going on right now.

Here is the example: Every single time Dave or Ben post anything except for the big main front page, like if they commented in one of your posts, EVERYONE tries to mock them. They’ll make posts teasing them, they’ll make snide comments, they’ll do the opposite of what our moderators ask for just to rib them.
Are we trying to be mean or classless? No. It is called being friendly to most of us. We tease the people we like and we laugh with them. You are one of us so we treat you the same way. You better believe we are also laughing at how seriously those people who are frustrated with your posts are taking themselves.
