Around SBN: The Pros and Cons of an 18-game NFL Schedule

Four teams, four days, 8 games left: the schedule

With our win tonight in LA, we're going to finish somewhere between second and fifth.

Current Standings:

2. Denver 53-27

3. Houston 52-28

4. Portland 52-28

5. San Antonio 51-28

Sunday:

San Antonio @ Sacramento

Monday:

San Antonio @ Golden State

Oklahoma City @ Portland

Sacramento @ Denver

New Orleans @ Houston

Tuesday: NO GAMES

Wednesday:

Denver @ Portland

Houston @ Dallas

New Orleans @ San Antonio

For the Blazers to finish second, we have to finish with a better record than Denver, thereby winning the Northwest Division, and finish with a better record than Houston should they win the Southwest Division.  Denver's magic number over us is one, so we need a miracle win by the Kings Monday.  We also need a Houston loss, as they have the season series over us.

The Hornets are our best firends right now, as they could potentially deal both Southwest Division leaders a loss, giving us a real opportunity to finish third even with the expected Denver win on Monday.

With two Blazer wins, there is a real possibility of a four-way tie for second place.  I believe that is worked out by first determining division winners (Houston & Denver); then figure the tie between those two (Houston by virtue of winning series against Denver 3-1); then order Portland and San Antonio as normal, which Portland wins by taking the season series 3-1, leaving us with:

2. Houston 54-28

3. Denver 54-28

4. Portland 54-28

5. San Antonio 54-28

Eight games in the next four days to shake it all out!

Blazers and Dallas win out

Blazer’s move to the 3rd seed. Dallas moves up to the 6th seed. We face Dallas in the first round.

that's fine

we have to learn how to beat Dallas… good learning experience.

If we make it to Round 2, we have a legit chance of making it to the WCF. If we’re the 4 seed, we face LA in Round 2.

I'd rather tank a game

than be in a position to play the Mavs. The Blazers have no confidence against them whatsoever, and Dallas is playing well right now.

I just can't see the Spurs winning all three of their games

With how they have been playing lately? No way. And both of Houston’s games are very losable. My 2nd and 3rd favorite teams are now the Hornets and Kings.

yeah the GS game is the best chance

NO is looking to rest their starters and may do it the last game vs SA but the GS is the next night of a b2b and Timmah might need his cane to get up and down the court.

we'll i'll be rooting for the hornets to be the 6th six, just in case we grab the third seed

i’m expecting the 4th seed against the spurs

yeah the

hornies or the spurs would be my 2 favorite teams to play. Dal and Hou not so much.

We just need to stay a game ahead of SA and have them finish with a worse record than Hou, giving them the division win and the 3 seed, us the 4th and the spurs the 5th

Portland will win the next two

Dallas will beat Houston at home dropping Houston to the 4 seed and pushing us to the 3rd.

Hopefully the Jazz can get their crap together enough to at least make LA work up a sweat in the 1st round. All the other first round series have the potential to go the distance. The last thing we want to face is a rested Laker team.

i rather play the spurs in a series

i just cant see the spurs scoring enough points to beat the blazers over a 7 game series.

and the spurs defense against the blazers hasnt been nearly good enough
