His eyes are huge haha

But on a more serious note, really Kobe? You lost cause you didn’t get calls? Your 9-24 had nothing to do with it? The Blazers went to the line because they were simply more agressive…

Also how unconvincing did his “we want them” sound? I know his competitive spirit wouldn’t let him admit it, but I don’t think anyone WANTS Portland in the post-season as of this moment

maybe dallas or houston wants us...

"There are a few teams you have to watch out for in the fourth quarter."
"Yeah, but Portland definitely is not one of them."

-New Orleans Hornets broadcasters at the end of the third quarter with the Hornets leading 74-59. Portland later ends up winning 97-89.

"They don't mind him shooting that shot at all. Rudy Fernandez is not that great of a 3pt shooter."

but don’t necessarily WANT us at all. There’s a difference…

Maybe you dont get calls

because your team is full of idiots that literally complain about everything, which i imagine pisses off the refs :)

Seriously, you guys have got to get a hold of yourselves. You had a nice win, Congrats! You are a cute little team and everything but there is no need to go into full celebration mode, especially if you are a team that is alledgedly important and not just a bunch of amateurs. Any time you want to take a look into the trophy case in L.A. and your looking for some action, just let us know! In the meantime just enjoy your cute little win with your ONE championship that happened 32 years ago and your pacific division banners with a sprinkling of conference championship banners and your way too many retired jerseys. Enjoy, you have earned them!!

“All that jealousy and envy comin from my enemies”

But in response to your comment: We have a lot of respect for the success of the Los Angeles Lakers, and that is why we savor each win so much. And please don’t make this about the past – the Blazers are the team of the future and showed why tonight.

Classic L*ker fan response to a loss.

The past is in the past so stop using that as an excuse for why the L*kers lost. That’s always the fall back-“Enjoy your one championship…blah blah blah.” You’re just too sad to admit that Portland is damn scary and you’re reign as the top team in the West is coming to a close.

nice winS

all of the wins have been nice. face it, the L*kers can’t win in the Rose Garden. It’s not one win we’re celebrating, it’s 8 home wins in a row against a team with the best record in the west.

by blaze929 on Apr 12, 2009 9:11 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

If we see you in the Playoffs, we will beat you in Portland. Book it! It ceartainly wouldn’t be the first time that it’s happened, but I know you guys don’t like to bring up the past so I guess most of those eight wins don’t really have any relevance any longer! Please don’t lose in the first round, I would be really dissapointed if we don’t get to knock you out in the second round

by LAKERJK on Apr 12, 2009 2:59 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

actually

I agree that the Blazers got more questionable calls this game… but I wouldn’t go so far as to say they decided the game. And shouldn’t we be entitled to a few going in our favor by this point? It’s just the way the game goes Kobe.

PLAYOFFS... sounds good, don't it?

by SabonisBonus on Apr 10, 2009 10:51 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

God, I hate that guy.

Just because his team didn’t get the benefit of every flippin call like every other game he gets all bent out of shape (except for that one foul on Batum…was that a classic Kobe call or what?!). Since he is so sure he wants to play us in the playoffs I think I’ll say I do too. That just means he’s going to try and do everything himself. And let’s be real, we all know that’s never a good thing for the L*kers when that happens.

by Roybot on Apr 10, 2009 10:54 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Last night the L*kers went to the line something like 46 times and Denver went fewer than 30 times IIRC

that’s the NBA, Kobe definitely got some calls, but blaming the refs is a lame excuse 99% of the time

by trailblazersfan on Apr 10, 2009 10:56 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Agreed.

Kobe doesn’t like it so much when the tables are turned and he’s on the bad end of calls. It only happens once in a blue moon so the rest of us have to enjoy it when it happens!

why is it they can’t accept defeat against us? they either adopt low-brow excuses (it rains too much here) or use classless, petty excuses like “we didn’t get to the freethrow line enough”.

We own his black soul now

he just doesn’t know it yet. That’s the hatred I want to see, and it’s really the first time I’ve seen that reaction from him. The mask cracked a little.

It’s really still David vs Goliath at this point, but with this year’s season series draw, it’s almost as if Goliath lost this battle. Now his only chance is to meet us in the playoffs and beat us mano a mano, because he’s failed twice and he wants to put this one behind him. There’s only a 1/10 or 1/15 chance of this happening, but if we want to really earn that hatred and make this a rivalry, we need to beat these guys in the playoffs, destroy their championship dreams.

After watching this again

To bask in the glow of a L*ker defeat and a Blazer win a little more, I came to a realization. It’s things like this that makes me appreciate Brandon Roy and the rest of the team for the class and respect they show after every game, win or lose. This is proof that not all fanbases can say the same about their beloved superstar.

How Long until a playoff series loss to the Blazers causes K*be to blow up the Lakers

This is my dream. And this is K*be’s nightmare. The Blazers haunt his gaunt and stilted soul. He knows, looking into Brandon’s eyes as he misses yet another shot, that we are his huckleberry, K*be’s final, relentless and everlasting end.

Fans reactions

are different than players reactions. Fans or fanatics are fanatical, anything can and will come out of their mouth, (or keyboard as the case may be) about their team or the team their team is facing.

But players are held to a higher standard. Nothing Kobe said was bad, “sure blame the officals” is what fans do, but players rarely go there, and Kobe has the least room to talk because of all the phantom calls he already gets, (just ask Batum). The lost this game in the final few minutes, where Kobe airballed two 3’s and turned the ball over because he got caught in the air under the basket.

Ofcourse a player would never say, " I don’t want to face “x” team they are scary!", and most players are very competitive, so you know this losing streak in PDX eats at him. I have no doubt he wants the Blazers in the playoffs just so he can show his dominance over them. Hopefully we get to see that, as it would mean the Blazers won at least 1 playoff round, and maybe even 2. Plus playing the Lakers in the postseason this year, would give very valueable experience to a team in need of it.

Go Blazers!

Kobe is a warrior... Gotta love his attitude.

But I do hate to break it to him: the real cause of the loss was him freaking out and flinging a quick contested brick 3 that PDX sucked up — and then the Lakers freaking out and fouling when they didn’t have to, no doubt panicked by Kobe’s bizarre clanker…
