Mike D'Antoni New York's Savior?
What a stupid article, what has he done so far in NY? Nothing, his team is in third to last spot in the east and is only one game out of being second worst. He might be good eventually but so far he has proven that he can get teams to put up points and play no defense. Good Job.

he's taken them from the 29th best D to the 23rd best...
… and the 23rd best O to the 16th best (using pace-adjusted numbers).
That’s a pretty darn good improvement for 1 season.
The game isnt just about offense though. I think he is a good coach don’t get me wrong, but it seems really stupid to have an article about how great a coach is when his team is 3rd from the bottom in their conference. It goes back to ESPN only caring about big market teams, and even though there is no story there they are going to make a story for the knicks.
I hope I can get a bunch of championships, like 15. " - Greg Oden
did you miss half of what I wrote
He’s improved their D from 29th best in the NBA to 23rd best. He’s them from a 7.2 in efficiency differential to a -2.7- that’s a huge improvement.
D’Antoni’s Suns teams were always underrated on D— they were always around the middle, never near the bottom. This guy can flat out coach.
wow, formatting fail
the Knicks have improved from being minus 7.2 to minus 2.7 in point differential, one of the best improvements in the league.
Yes I did miss half of what you wrote. I apologize.
I still think it is way too early to call him a success in NY though. There are many stories that deserve a front page article on ESPN over this.

that I can buy
but the Knicks are always going to get a lot of national play, that’s just the way it is.

D'Antoni
Is definitely one of the best coaches in the NBA. His team is in the hunt for the playoffs in the east (almost certainly not going to get there, but still) and who does he have on his team?
Duhon? Robinson? Lee?
Decent but nobody that good. His system is fun, and he’s a good coach. Players like to play in it, and people love watching it. Give him more than a single year as a head coach and we’ll see exactly how his style will work in New York, but there is no way he should have been fired from Phoenix after multiple 60 win games. I mean they are missing the playoffs this year, and weren’t on track to get 60 wins before Amare went out, with almost the exact same personnel. I
From the back of Travis Outlaw's Franz card: Travis leads the team in monstrous thunder dunks, wins awards for post game interviews, and often gets extra points for degree of difficulty.
From the back of Greg Oden's Franz card: Nickname: Jaws. Has an insatiable desire to tear rims apart while cruising the open court, and was once interested in using head-gear for his profession.
+1
people would rather see a team lose 45 games and score 110 pts, than see a team lose 50 games and score 90 points.
his teams are fun to watch. that can be enough when you’ve just come from the isiah era.
he has made the story of the knicks all about what happens on the court (minus the beginning of the year starbury benchings)
