My alma mater, Cornell, locked up the first automatic bid to the NCAA Men's Basketball tournament for the 2nd consecutive year, blowing out Penn by 24. Every year between 1988 and 2007, the Ivy League champ was either Penn or Princeton, so the back to back Cornell championships represents a major changing of the guard. The Big Red squad is led by 5'6'' PG Louis Dale and 6'6'' sharpshooter Ryan Wittman (son of Randy, the man Kevin McHale replaced as TWolves head coach this year). The Ivy League is the only conference which gives its automatic bid to the regular season champ and does not hold a conference tournament.
Today, the 7th, the champions of the Atlantic Sun, Big South and Ohio Valley conferences will be named, and more tickets will be punched as the week goes on.
