First time poster, been reading Dave since blazer thoughts but I've never taken the time to post anything. Most everything I would have to say is typically covered by someone. Today, I've been waiting for someone to discuss Aldridge and how much toughness he showed last night. Maybe its been discussed and I missed it but here goes:
I'm watching this game during the second half and I believe its still third quarter so we are still somewhat in it. Rudy drives in for an out of control lay in that "birdman" superspikes into his face. My first reaction is the typical shout with my hands over my face. I am absolutely cringing. I am so embarassed for Rudy. I haven't seen much that can top that beat down. And then birdman is taunting and acting like a pro wrestler and I feel worse for Rudy than during the slam dunk contest.
Next time down the court, Aldridge takes it HARD at birdman and dunks in his face and gives him a few words. I was loving it. I think I was as happy as I'd been if we'd won the game. When was the last time you've seen a Blazer do THAT!? Aldrige tried again to take it at birdman a few minutes later, was called for the O-foul and then pretty much dissappeared from the game. I didn't care though. The original stand up to that freak was enough. Give these guys a few more years of growth/confidence and I guarentee that there won't be any talk of soft blazers(unless Rudy is still around; j/k, everyone hearts rudy, right?).
Anyway, that may have been my favorite play of the year so far. Anyone else even think it was noteworthy?
