The Player Hater's Ball
All of the fanposts that are negative in nature are really starting to annoy some individuals on this website. While pessimism isn't always welcome, it can be necessary and there should be a place for it even on a website like Blazers Edge. I propose that we treat posts that are overly critical in nature much like other questionable material (like off topic material and trade posts)... we make a "drawer" about it.
Thus I give you the Player Haters Ball. A single fan post where everyone can vent about those players that really get under your skin. Hate Travis' BBIQ... post it here. Bayless lover? Hater? post it here.
Why clutter the entire website with hate when it can be consolidated into one fan post? Then anyone coming to the fanpost can't comlain about all of the hate because they know it is a forum dedicated to the venting of everyone's loathing for certain players on this team.
Enjoy. And give respect to Silky Johnson... the greatest player hater ever.

Great Idea!!! I’m sick and tired of blazer hating. constructive critisism and observations are fine, but some people should vent to their dog. All this negative media coverage and posts are wearing on me.

where did Bayless's shot go?
i thought he was a decent shooter in college. Now all he can do is draw fouls! is this the future pg we want?

at some point you gotta man up and have confidence in yourself
I don’t blame a coach for taking a man’s confidence, I blame the man for not proving himself. When people jip you you can take one of two routes: you can blame them for your shortcomings, or you can do something about them.

good point
maybe Bayless has some insecurities or something (like he’s got small parts or is gay) and he is having trouble manning up right now.

agreed
but i think bayless might be a bit more mentally tough than sergio and can handle it. sergio had no support systems when he played here since his family was overseas and he didn’t speak english well.

I have a theory...
I used to have a great shot when I was in HS…well, that shot was always off when I was lifting alot of weights. Either my arms were dead or I wasnt quite used to the added strength at any given time.
Bayless has gotten shredded since summer league— I bet that has a little to do with it.
Add that to the obvious bigger faster stronger competition and there you go….
The boy’s got shooting skills, I garantee it— he’s just gotta find it again.
"Both Anthony Carter and Jameer Nelson were downright jubilant in the Magic locker room postgame. Carter said to no one in particular, "Brandon Roy, that man is unstoppable, it's like he's playing NBA Live" and Nelson was cracking on his teammates for not being able to guard Brandon. The kinds of jokes you can make when you win."

Bayless' shot went where many individuals' shots go...
To the nation of hesitation. Despite his aggressive appearance, Jerryd Bayless’ mindset when he is on the floor is much different than it has ever been at any level. Bayless is trying to secure playing time. At every level Bayless has played, he has been the star (even in Summer League) and has been free to play his game without the risk of losing his minutes.
Currently, Bayless is focusing on securing playing time. That means (1) working your tail off in practice (something the coaches continue to praise him for) and; (2) not screwing up when you are in the game.
Bayless is focusing on not screwing up currently and it shows. The one time when Bayless was guaranteed playing time (when Blake was hurt) his shot looked very good… just look at him numbers (both volume and efficiency) during that stretch. Now that Blake is back, Bayless is constantly trying to find playing time and when he is in the game, he hesitates on him shot (because of a desire to not screw up.)
The hesitation on his shot wasn’t the only change he has made as a result of trying to secure minutes on the court. You may remember early in the year, McMillan told him that his ability to distribute the ball would determine whether he played or not. In that brief period to start the season, he would desperately look to pass despite being in a situation where it would be better for him to shoot. I remember a couple time where he drove the land; stopped in the low post; and then jumped toward the baseline to throw a bad pass to the corner because he was completely focused on passing.
When Bayless gets regular playing time, a combination of comfort with the speed of the game and less hesitation due to a fear of screwing up will do wonders for his shot.

I hate this idea
Oops, wait.
Are you on the team? If not, I think I’m posting in the wrong place again. Perhaps we need a Poster Hater’s Ball, too.
I apologize in advance for posting in the wrong place, but I’m going to do it anyway. Just because I feel a need to vent about something or other. I’m not sure what, but that’s the thing about venting, it doesn’t matter, does it?
I didn’t like it that LMA and Roy were talking to each other on the bench during the end of that game instead of focusing intently on what was happening on the court. They obviously didn’t care about the loss. Bench them to send a message. It worked for Carmelo. (Was that the right kind of thing for this thread? I’m not very good at this hating thing, I need more practice.)

Is it really hating if you're just pointing out truths? Wouldn't the alternative actually be lying to oneself?
No and yes are the correct answers.

Last nights game was lost on broys airball
LA showed up, duing his part, playing his role, and playing with confidence. Pryz showed up to play right from the start. You can’t expect him to make it taking it to the hole like that, but he hit his free throws. Thats a good soldure. When broy mist that shot, it screamed “I HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IN MY GAME, AND MY ABILITIES TO LEAD THIS TEAM TO VICTORY”. the ensuing meltdown was excrutiationg.
Before the game, I commented that a victory would land squarly on LA and roy, and that BOTH would have to be top notch and in tandum to pull it out. roy failed, for whatever reason, he failed. I wonder about the dynamics, and how LA bringing the right stuff, all the goodness, right from the start, may have affected him. If I’m roy, and all I want is to win, and I’m the “uneqwivicle leader of this team”, a rookie of the year, and two time allstar in just three seasons, then I’m estatic that my trusty sidekick shows up loaded for bear.
What about that beginning was to good to be true for roy?? I wonder if he just likes to play the hero, he seams to play better from behind. I donno. But the fact remains, that when playing, your headspace matters, and roys was waaaaaay off. That airball should keep roy from having an erection for at least a week, there was NOTHING manly in that disconnect. (Rudy should have the same problem too, getting a bball spiked off your head has got to hurt the sole.) So I’m freaking out, refusing to relenquish hope, its not even tangable, I can’t see, the night is black, I’m alone in an ocean, the storm rages, and I’m reaching wildly for a rope that isn’t there.
theres a positive in this, and maybe also a negative. Rudy was willing to take the big shot, and he was willing to take it to the hole, in the absence of roy. the problem, is that Rudy is showing, though not consistantly, that he canbe the man on an NBA team. I would guesse that more then a few teams would be happy to make use of him as a starter in there offence, and I’de venture that if one was designed wiht his strengths in mind, it could be quite successful. My fear, is that Portland will not get to keep Rudy, that he or his agents will recognise his potential and he will be moved.
ugh

At least give us some effort on road games, Blazers
I promise I’m going to write up a field trip report of last night’s Denver game, but this right here is a quick vent.
SHOW SOME FREAKING EFFORT.
Last night the players – almost all of them, up and down the lineup – showed inconsistent hustle and effort, especially on the defensive end. B-Roy was sleepwalking through the first 16 minutes; LaMarcus fell in love with his jumper too early; Rudy was ineffective spotting up. The offense just flat out was NOT moving.
Denver gets 32 in the first quarter, and despite the rally, they run out of gas.
Yes, second half of the back-to-back, long season, etc. But having to be there in the arena as the Denver fans cheered on their clown prince (freaking Birdman) and seeing Melo shred our defense was sad. This’ll probably be the only game I get to go to, and it was nothing short of a banana peel.
