Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

Prove IT! Black and Red Loyalty .

I have officially had enough for this season...

If you are a blogger on this site, then you are obviously a Blazers fan.  We are past the trade deadline, we are in the playoff hunt legitimately since the bad-boy-blazers were in charge here and it is an exciting time for this franchise in Portland that has inited "Rise with Us."  and "Stay together for the next exciting chapter".  Our team in Portland is hearlded nationwide as one of the most UNIFIED lockers in the association, let alone all sports, so why does our fanbase and media supporters need to be so UN-Unified as we close in on the next reasonale step of progression for this team:  their first Playoff Series?

How about, Are the Blazers going to win 50 games?  Are the Blazers going to get Home Court Advantage?  Are the Blazers going to win their Division?  Which teams are streaking and which are stumbling into the playoff push?  What players you like in the upcoming NBA draft where Portland has multiple picks again?  Or the fact that Portland is leading the NBA in FANS attending home games? How much love B-Roy is finally starting to get nationwide....etc....  There are a lot better topics out there than what I have seen a lot of lately AND SOMEBODY on here needed to stand up and say ENOUGH!

If you like the Trail Blazers, and wear the Black and Red on gamedays you are not allowed to talk about these things until the season is over (failure to comply will result in being banned from BE until the off-seaosn*):

1.) Trading anyone on the team.  Trade deadline is gone and this is our team for now.  Playoffs are around the corner and we have no idea who is going to step up and take their games to the next level on that next level of play.  Don't you think that showing mad game in the playoffs will do a lot to keep them with the team for the future?  Plus, this time off will actually give most of us some good time to come up with realistic moves and figure out how they will work.

2.) Greg Oden being a bust or anything of the sort:  Just how much better of a team are we with a healthy Greg Oden?  We don't know yet, so why don't we all encourage this kid to be healthy and ready for playoffs, rather than sweating him about missing games when HE, the coach, and the trainers clearly don't want him to go.  Give this 21 year old the space, time and support ANYONE needs to get back and do what he does, which is play hoops.  We all want him to PROVE that he is what we want him to be, and Oden can't prove anything until he is back, so let's support him getting back.

That is it, 2 things that have been WAY too consuming to WAY too many on this site.  Gather yourself and check your perspective... it is playoff push time and NOW is when you and I both can help this team "Rise Up."

by TPfor3 on Mar 5, 2009 12:25 PM PST reply actions

Funny that you say that

Because my screen name is UNblindloyalty. I’ve had my eyes open about the Blazers my entire adult life (I admit that I was blindly loyal as a kid). I criticize the Blazers for their faults, and cheer for their successes. My friends complain that I am too negative about the Blazers sometimes, but I think that I am just a realist. But I agree with the original post, that now is the time to discuss THIS season, and how the Blazers will get into, and suceed in, the playoffs THIS year. The Oden troll posts are lame.

I will cry tears of joy when the Blazers win the Championship, and I feel a common bond with others who feel the same way.

Good Point

From now on I will only read the messages on Yahoo that discuss how our economy is going to improve from here on out.. oh wait. Guess I would have nothing to read. I just don’t understand why people would want sports to be so drastically different from real life that we would just always be happy about it. Taking sports seriously is actually part of what makes it fun.

by TPfor3 on Mar 5, 2009 12:44 PM PST up reply actions

taking it seriously...

and all out questioning a young athlete’s motives to play or proclaiming a bust when there hasn’t even been given a fair shot is not taking it seriously… that is being unrational and taking things TOO seriously.

Come on Dude

You are the biggest pessimist I have ever met in my life, how dare you sit back and say you are a realist. Your so negative your name should’ve been Eeyore, I wont dare mention some of the negativity that you have spread through out this season. I bet you wish we still drafted Durant. You want some tears, I’ll give you some tears. After I post this I’m coming over to your cubicle and going to get mid-evil on you with some needle nose pliers and soldering gun. Really, you a Realist , Man now I’ve heard it all. Now go prepare yourself pain train, because it’s a coming choo-choo. ;-)

Calm down big fella

I want the Blazers to win tonight.

I think they will lose, given that they are playing a road game against a playoff team on the second night of a back-to-back.

Does that make me a realist or a pessimist?

Eeyore? Please. I’m still waiting for you to come over to my cubicle. “Mid-evil”?? Is that some sort of medium evil, between low evil and high evil??

i'll explain

in the 80s, there was a “popular*” russian comedian named Yakov Smirnov. his comedy routine consisted primarily of pointing out the differences between american culture, and soviet culture. he did this primarily by switching the noun and the verb of the sentence about american culture when he referred to soviet culture.

example:
BOY IS NICE TO BE HERE, HERE IN AMER-I-C-A YOU PLAY THE BASKET BALL FOR FUN.
IN SOVIET RUSSIA THE BASKET AND BALL PLAYS YOU. WHAT A COUNTRY!

most of perceived differences were lies and propaganda, and he was exiled from Hollywood where he now performs his routine in the modern day gulag of Branson Missouri.

what we can do is put together a list of the “haters”, build this list up and then when things are good and everyone is healthy and the blazers are winning, we can say… sorry Ney-sayers, no room on the boat for you.

It is a hiatus, not a "with us or against us"....

I have proposed a time frame to refrain from beating the proverbial dead horses on this site. It is a temporary hiatus….

It is a STIMULATION PLAN for the BEdge fans, we need to get stimulated to focus on all the other things going forward… everythign except trades that have no barring on this season and garbage about how Oden is a complete bust. Let Oden have time to prove it through out the rest of the season how much he wants his career to be a success and how tough he is, then pass judgement then.

I have been a Blazer fan

since 1976. I follow them because of the team, not because of individuals. I support the team completely, even if I have issues with individuals on the team (not playing defense, not rebounding, etc…) Everyone needs to sit back and enjoy the ride. Everyone needs to realize that this team is young, but gaining ground on the entire NBA every day. Do we have the “PERFECT” team? NO, but we did not have that team in 1977, either.

That said, Oden is not a bust, heck, he has not even had a chance to show what he is made of without someone bustin on him about whatever.

Trades are over and gone till we play our last game this year, hopefully sometime in June!!!!! So get over it!! We are not trading anyone until the draft this summer, and even then, it WILL NOT BE Oden. He is our center for years to come, and I will enjoy watching him every game as he grows and grows.

Killer instinct. When you have your opponent down, you do not help them up. You step on their throat!!!!!!

by Misplaced Blazermaniac on Mar 5, 2009 12:47 PM PST reply actions

Agree completely with a caveat

There are still ‘negative’ things to discuss involving the team.

1. How do we improve our team defense?
2. What are our potential stumbling blocks for the playoffs?
3. Are we ready to trust that Portland IS a good team?

And less negative but more confusing:

If Greg and Martel are ready to play for our first round of the playoffs, do we try to integrate them or keep the rotation we’ve got going?

by boppitywop on Mar 5, 2009 12:56 PM PST reply actions

I love pro basketball

the first championship series I saw on TV was Willis Reed’s Knicks beating Wilt Chamberlain’s Lakers; been watching ever since. I love watching the Blazers, even when my stomach aches watching them get beat upon. But I will not, absolutely not march goosestep with your outlandish request. Thank God you’re a nobody.
P.S. Brandon and LMA are fantastic; Oden is not. Everyone else are great to watch, except for Greg who plods on the court. Hopefully he’ll lose 30 pounds and snap out of it.
