Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

This has been re-written since the first draft. I'm going to quote some of the original, more poignant passages of that original piece.

"Whatever hopes the Jazz had of capturing a third consecutive Northwest Division crown likely were extinguished Tuesday night, as embarrassment was followed by expulsion against the Portland Trail Blazers. "

"That gave Portland an 80-57 lead, but the fireworks were still to come. Joel Przybilla provided the defining moment of the night for a Blazers team that refused to back down, no matter how much their lead swelled.

Przybilla drew a charge against Boozer in the lane, then took exception when Boozer flipped the ball at him on the ground. Whether Boozer meant to do so or not, Przybilla got in his face at midcourt, leading to technical fouls for each. "

Nice little tidbit in there

Highest shooting percentage against Utah since 1995.

Sloan is blaming youth on this loss? Does he know who he played?
“We played last night,” Sloan said. “I think young teams sometimes have a tendency to run into those sort of things.”

But we weren't on the road on a back to back

Sometimes young teams do have performances like that on back to backs on the road.

We had a Utah/Portland back to back this year, too, and played about like they did.

Read carefully, young man

I said a Utah/Portland back to back. We did play a back to back that started in Utah and it ended badly in Portland.

still

they’re nowhere near Memphis young or Portland young. They are a team with a blend of veterans and young players.

They suck on the road

They’re a reason they have exactly ONE WIN against teams above .500 on the road…

Kind of like us

We haven’t beat a western conf playoff team, on the road, other than the Hornets game when Paul got hurt and we came back.

But at least we've beaten Eastern teams on the road

They have not.

We beat Magic and Heat, and almost gave Cleveland their 2nd home loss of the year.

They can't whine about back to backs when all teams have them...

arguably some more than others, but we all have them. I think playing a hard game in NY and then fly all the way over to west coast to play is what killed them…Jet lag alone will make you feel like you don’t know whether you’re coming or going. It probably felt like they just played NY 4 hours ago. That said, PTB probably feels like they’re ballin’ at 2am when they go east…soooo It’s a wash. B2B’s are part of the league and the game.

I think they played NY in Utah

Like Magnum pointed out

They played in SLC last night.

No one ever has a back to back that involves switching coasts, and you usually never switch time zones.

Still is a tough thang, of course.

Your face is in a different time zone

As is your face.

I realized I was mistaken after I wrote it, but forgot where I wrote it, and figgered awwww, what the hell. The middle time zones are just a bloody joke anyways. All of their TV shows are on our time, or East coast time, so it’s not really a change of a time zone if ya ask me.

Ok… you’re face isn’t in a different time zone :-( I reacted rashly because I knew I was caught, and I felt like if I insulted you then the attention would be thrown off of my incorrect statement and more about your face being so far away. It was a calculated risk that has now blown up in my face, but I’m a man… I can take it.

I doubt this is there first back to back in 13 years,
The last team to shoot such an astonishing percentage against the Jazz was Houston (62.7 percent) in a Feb. 2, 1995 game.

Hear comes Rodriguez, no look to FerNANDEZ - WHAT A PLAY!!?!! HOW did they Pull That Off - FERNANDEZ THE STEAL - GOOD IF IT GOES -AAAAAAAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH!!!!!!1111!!!!!!!!! - Kevin Harlan

HAHAHAHAHA

I love just punking teams and running the score up. To me there is no better win, because the next day you can sit back and watch the other team implode. It is sweet, sweet nectar.
Now we have to learn how to do that on the road. Maybe not quite a drubbing like last night, but a solid victory in Utah is the next big step. San Antonio, Houston, and L.A. should also be added to that list. That will be when we know we are ready to take this thing all the way.
As for right now our team is peaking at the right time. We are playing teams with aggresivness and confidence, and we aren’t backing down to anyone. Tell em how you really feel Joel. Not to mention Greg is starting to come out of his shell and just not give a damn about critics or anyone but his teammates and coaches, another good sign. I can see that #2 spot sitting there for the taking and isn’t an unrealistic goal at this point. It’s time to finish strong and shut up all the haters.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
