I like watching Dwight

I enjoy seeing how Greg will look in a couple of years. Centers are kind of my thing.

I HOPE Greg has game and a build like Howard's in a couple years.

Howard is easily one of my favorites right now. The kid is so big, so strong and so athletic—really fun to watch.

unofficial JD rules

i thought the topic for JD’s werent supposed to be basketball related? i’m not exactly a JD veteran…so i’m not sure.

by tingeyga on Apr 1, 2009 12:36 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

no rules, per say

however, the reason the junk drawer came to fruition was to deal with the overload of non PTB related minutia that was clogging up threads. So, to invent PTB themed junk drawers is somewhat counter to the intent.

This JD however is acceptable, as it not only plays on April Fools, but involves a fan fantasy NBA voting contest. Had there not been a JD posted, I’m sure Tom or myself would have correctly written up a “Your best April Fools day prank” Edition. Such is life.

BE Video Chat

Hey…I remember last year Steve Nash would do web cam chats on his way home from home games in his car. I thought it was a great way to interact with fans before twitter came about. I know that JD’s are pretty popular for us to just bs…but how about we do video chat rooms? We could use Stickam or Live Video or whatever flavor of the week site to host. It’d be a fun way for us to chat in real time. Anyone think this is worth pursuing?

I'll say the same thing

Oden is SUPPOSED to be good, he shouldn’t win MIP as a 2nd year player. Durant is SUPPOSED to be good, he shouldn’t win MIP as a 2nd year player, etc…

Should go to people who really improved in a way not expected, I think.

mo williams maybe

went from a decent scoring point guard to a freaking 3pt machine

Other than death and taxes, only 4 things in this world are indisputable:
Brandon Roy is the BEST player in the NBA in the clutch.
Montana to Rice were the greatest to ever play the game.
The Four Horsemen of Maddux, Smoltz, Glavine and Avery were unstoppable.
No one protects the pipes like Luongo.

Do they still give comeback player of the year?

Because if so I would say he should get that one before MIP.

Yeah I am not sure how they can say that Durant is in the lead for that.

by peseme16 on Apr 1, 2009 7:49 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

He is better

I just don’t know how he can win rookie of the year and the next year be most improved. His team isn’t any better, just his stats. To me “most improved” means they guy was bad or average then became all star-esque.

This is the same page that says Travis...

Attacks the basket hard and has “solid defense”. Now Travis is the man, but those normally aren’t in his descriptions.

If KD won most-improved, the category would officially be as useless as COY.

by Timmay! on Apr 1, 2009 8:23 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Should be Devin Harris, maybe Nate Rob

MIP should not go to a sophomore player ever. Of course they are improving and posting good numbers, especially if the same player won ROY the year before.

There are much hotter Eastern Europeans than her, but she is definitely a nice catch for AK and I think also pretty tall :)

E.g. Romania (Black Sea) has a lot of girls who are much more dark skinned than you would expect from that region, but have the same facial features. But in general many countries’ moms have nice daughters.

Little lame thing I started doing

I used to wait at crosswalks with groups of people and I would wonder why someone would push their way through the group to push the cross button. The other day I walked up and there was three people across the street and four on my side and when I light changed I realized no one pushed the button so I just walked.

My new fun thing to do is if I get there first, I push the button, then I lean on the button so no one can touch it. Yesterday an old lady pushed me aside to push the button. I’m going to keep doing it. It’s lame of me but also fun.

I used to do this in college

If I had free time before a class I’d go close a classroom door and stand next to it. People would gather around me without ever trying to open the door, they just assumed it was locked since the guy there (me) hadn’t opened it. On numerous occasions I’d get around 20 people just standing outside the door with me.

I’m not pathetic enough to keep stats of this, but I’d wager that about 2/3 of the time I did this nobody tried to open the door.

Highlight reel
1. I got an entire class to just stand outside of the classroom until after the bell rang. Eventually, I just opened the door and walked away.
2. A teacher was one of the first ones there and just stood outside waiting. (Seriously teacher, who’s job is it to get that door unlocked anyway?)
3. A teacher came up, looked at us, looked at the door, and went to find someone with keys.

by Zaig on Apr 1, 2009 1:50 PM PDT up reply actions   1 recs

Kids at my high school would block one door that would connect two different hallways

between the last two periods of the day on Fridays. It was always the senior offensive linemen and they would block it until the bell rang and usually something like 40 or 50 kids would walk into class late as a result.

I think that that is hilarious that you would just open the door and then just walk away since it wasn’t your classroom. Pure genius. Screwing with people like that is hi-larious.

my favorite right now is

to stop 15 or so feet behind a car at a stop light. when a car stops behind me, i move forward a few feet and stop. they naturally move forward a bit too. then i do it again. and they follow again. i think my record is doing it four times before the light changes or the car behind me realizes they are stupid.

This afternoon's activity is...

…editing out all the commercials from my copy of Thursday’s Phoenix game on TNT. Then archive it in all its 1080i HD glory.

There are some games you just can’t delete.

I don't like three man teams very much

It seems crowded.

yeh

sometimes abc pulls it off….for some of the bigger games, i kind of like 3 man panels. But that should be like championship games only or somethin…for regular games it seems like overkill

I don't mind the Van Gundy-Breen +1 crew

Nice page title (someone has a sense of humor)

Surprising. Even shocking. But this is sports.

Not life or death.

My 6 year old nephew crushes me in board games. Keeps me in check. I answer every email. I have strong opinions. But I find this surprising and shocking.

It’s the little things.

That.

Every morning I scan the JC column and if I can’t find anything to do with the Blazers I don’t read it. I guess we should be proud of him?

It's really funny how we keep finding these online polls

and whoever from the blazers is involved keeps winning.
