Mitts of G.O.ld!
I begin to understand why Greg Oden generated so much excitement out of college. He has so many attributes that make him a remarkable player. Size, speed, strength.
But lately, I have been particularly astonished with one of Greg's gifts: Have you ever seen an NBA player with hands like his?
That offensive rebound in the first quarter when he one-handed the ball fully extended and two feet behind his head was absolutely masterful. Is there another athlete in the league that can make that play?
The basketball behaves like a grapefruit in his hands.
And with Mitts like that, Greg can use one arm to fend off the two guys who are draped against him while he simply fields the basketball. And then have his way with it.
Greg Oden. I am beginning to believe!

but he also gets it stripped like 4/5 times he tries to dunk
just needs to work on keeping the ball away from midgets
"shaq and zach randolph have the same trainer... "
best one liner i ever heard.
Have you watched a game in the past
2 months? That’s old news man. It still happens but the frequency is way down from 2 to 3 months ago.
Why?
Well,
coming out of college this was one of the things that was said about him as one of his best attributes. Here, first thing mentioned under “positives” in his draft profile.
He just has trouble forgetting to keep the ball up high when he recieves it, not bringing it down to the opponent’s level.
I know less than half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
"Comparative Upside = Robert Parish"................... Hmmm, I can see that.
Pontiff of the Pryz for Prez Posse...
I see him as the best rebounder in the NBA
and a guy with decent post moves… about a 18/14/3 line.

my perfect stat line is
15/15/4/4/65/70 pts/rebs/ast/blks/fg/ft
add in
22/5/5 for Brandon and
21/8/3 for LMA
10/6/45%3pt for Blake
10/6/4 for Nic
and that is a hell of a starting lineup
"Damn the Blazers. Damn them to hell. They are working the rest of the league like a speed bag." - Bill Simmons 6/26/08
15/15/4/4/65%/70%
somehow the % signs did not post
"Damn the Blazers. Damn them to hell. They are working the rest of the league like a speed bag." - Bill Simmons 6/26/08
I like the last line of the capsule too
“Like any player (short of LeBron James) who has played so little college basketball, he will have an adjustment period, and fans have a way of being impatient with first overall picks in the draft.”
It would do us all good to remember that he’s still only played in 52 games. 1150 minutes.

impressive scouting report
dead on prediction of this year.
He's a work in progress. Much like Rex, you can really see things that you know you're gonna like someday when the kinks get worked out...
Pontiff of the Pryz for Prez Posse...
Oden is already an NBA impact player-- a guy who can consistently help a team win
Rex has shown flashes of potential but as of right now, he hurts the team a lot more than he helps.
Not a great comparison IMO.
I know there is much to being a great NBA center,
and it is early. But some of the plays I’ve seen him make since he’s been back have been amazing. As in “no other player in the league can do it” amazing.
big gloves
OH YEAH!!!
"Damn the Blazers. Damn them to hell. They are working the rest of the league like a speed bag." - Bill Simmons 6/26/08
Big DUNKS!
"I don’t have the first clue who he is talking about, because all I worry about is Jerome." – Jerome James, on comments by coach Nate McMillan about Seattle SuperSonics players being selfish.
That draft report
Should be required reading for any blazer fan. It is the SAME exact things that we have been criticizing him for, but these were things that the team knew he would struggle in. I think he is coming along well and we just need to keep our expectations in check for him.
I hope I can get a bunch of championships, like 15. " - Greg Oden
