Gameday Open Thread: Suns vs. Blazers

Game of the Century!  OK...maybe that's too much credit to the two teams and the situation.  Game of the month anyway!  Well...except there may be more defined critical moments soon.  Game of the week for sure, so GO CRAZY!

Here's your open thread to chat about the game.  A win would be amazingly reassuring and also prop the door open all-but irrevocably on the Blazers' impending playoff spot.  A loss wouldn't be an outright disaster, just flirting with it a while longer.  Either way, this is a statement game for the Suns so it should be for the Blazers as well.

Enjoy!

When even Nate admits it's a big game, it's a BIG game

Let’s see Portland jump out quickly and not look back. Portland really, really needs to win a “test” game.

As per Casey in the podcast

He also talks about it in his blog entry

Nate’s made it very clear that this game is very, very big. The team knows it and should be prepared.

i just hope the blazers don't come out tentative or anxious

i don’t want the pressure to get to them… :(

I'm ok about that

It’s playoff time. They gotta learn about pressure sooner or later. Better to learn about it now, while still having a 3-game lead on the team afterward even if they lose.

by Timmay! on Mar 26, 2009 6:40 PM PDT up reply actions

yeah, me too.

they gotta learn sometime. it’s nice they’re kinda a taste of this playoff atmosphere before they even start.

Tonight could be a wreck

Tonight’s game reminds me of a race traveling at full throttle. There is around the next blind corner a one lane bridge. If Portland doesn’t get an early jump the Suns will run them off the road and damage our playoff hopes. No slow starts breakout fast and leave the Sun’s gasping for breath in the second half. That ought to shut up the three stooges on TNT!

I’m watching the Bulls play the Heat and it seems like everything he says is wrong. He just called Jamario Moon an exciting young player, which is funny considering Moon is 28 years old.

The other day he said he thought Tyrus Thomas could eventually average a triple double for an entire season with points, rebounds, and blocks. When in the history of the NBA has any player ever averaged ten blocks a season?

Hey when you're that strong, distance is no problem

It’s all about the aim. Then once you’ve got that, it’s all about repetition. (If you need another step after that, it’s then about learning how to do it under pressure)

I spent my high school years trying to hit half court shots and never could (never had a lot of arm strength). I’ve started hitting the courts again, and now I usually hit one during every session. I can focus less on arm strength now, and am just mastering the aim.

I’ve never understood people who say things like “this game is going to be rigged…” or anything to that effect. What’s the rationale for continuing to watch games, and to be a diehard fan if you think the game is rigged at its core?

I’m not bashing, I just want to know the logic behind it. Thanks in advance.

Steve Nash is just torching Blake

The Kings have the best bench I’ve seen. There are easily 14 guys on this team good enough for every bench in the league. Now if we could only get some starters, I’d totally jizz in my pants.
