Running This Back

You've got the pregame nerves, the sweats, and the anxiety going don't you?  Restless.  Spinning circles in your office chair.  Breaking the day down into segments trying to help the time pass more quickly. You've got Blazers Induced Attention Deficit Disorder.

And the only cure is watching this video 468 times in a row.  Turn the sound on to hear Brandon's narration.

Blazers Induced Attention Deficit Disorder, huh?

That sounds to me like something I can make some money off of. Does anyone know where I can get some sugar pills and can have some labels made???

“Blazers Induced Attention Deficit Disorder affects all Blazers fans. For those who are having trouble controlling their BIADD, there’s help. There’s B-Edgeiphex. Side affects may include sweating, rash, chills, fever, missing extremities, loss of bowel control, loss of hair, rotting teeth, loss of head and runny nose.”

Yes! Yes! In the face!

Real side effects

Side effects may include loss of attention, lower grades, angry bosses, and in rare but serious cases, firings.

I seriously took a vacation day today

I have tickets for tonight’s game and new I would be worthless at work, plus it’s spring break (and I took tomorrow off also). I’m counting down the minutes….

It's Brandon Roy's world and we're only renting space

We don’t like him—we’re only on his side so he doesn’t dunk on us in front of our co-workers, wives, girlfriends, mistresses and children.

Blazers 6 1/2 pt. favorites tonight

..mmm I say closer, more like 4. Tough for Suns to pull off back to back wins.

Not really, you're the creative one!

Besides, I got banned from doing polls (assuming even if it’s indirectly), the people voted on it!

Ask if Roy is being a cry baby with the refs?

You can have answers like “suck it up and get back on D,” “ref’s suck,” etc.

I actually like that idea :)

Though it may be a bad day (or a good one!) to ask it, with him complaining while Philly scored the other night.

Semi-serious question about these clips

Is there some online-video limitation that requires people to take video of their TV instead of using a capture card? It’s sometimes impossible to find Blazer footage that isn’t of a camera recording a TV set.

One reaciton is, Phoenix has got some pay back in mind...

This game should be playoff tough. I’m also really looking forward to “Oden vs Shaq”. And Shaq could be playing for playoff survival. I don’t remember Greg against Shaq, or it was limited minutes… hasn’t really happened yet, in my mind. That could be the fascinating part, Greg actually playing tough aganist an angry, hungry Shaq….
An i’m thinking, Greg should be pretty motivated too… this is a big chance to say something to a lot of “unsupportive” people. I’m hopin… refs, lets not be callin’ ticky-tack fouls on Oden against Shaq please: Could we PLEASE see ‘em play ? I’m not, ah, “over” confident about this game, would be a great win. Very interesting game.

When I'm bored with blazers on the mind...

I go back through the archives here and look for the gameday open threads of big wins like this. It’s nice to relive the ecstatic reactions of fans as they happened (in this game, a lot of “BROOOOOOYYYY!!!!!”s which are just fine). Dammit time, speed up!

Can't for the life of me focus at work today

I’ve got all the symptoms. Please Mr. Doctor sir, can you write me a prescription for a win tonight? Can’t wait to go to the game, but the clock is moving slooooow.

Going 'Under'

On a certain Thursday in December 2008, bookmakers had the under/over in this game at 204. They got it wrong by FOURTY. A supposedly ‘defensive-minded’ coach Porter’s team ran-and-gunned like they forgot Steve Nash was no longer 30. Suns forced a career night from Roy that day – 52 points, zero turnovers, game basketball for souvenir.

Exactly 14 weeks later, bookmakers have the under/over at 220. Inspired by today’s TBJ betting contradiction (thebasketballjones.net, if you’re curious), I picked a bet too. The bet is ‘Under 220 points’

1. Playoff like intensity = missed shots. I expect this to be fairly ugly.
2. Coach McMillan saw what happened to the Jazz last night. Utah is a team that plays whatever tempo/style is offered by opposition. Not the best idea against the hot – and now extremely motivated Suns. I expect Portland to pace themselves, and try not to turn the game into another fourth quarter thriller. Fewer possessions, less points.
3. Bookmakers must be overcompensating for their ‘total blunder’ on Dec. 18. If I had missed the ‘under/over’ by 40 points first time, I would set it a few points high next time. It makes sense.

Prediction: Portland 102 – 97 Phoenix
