Blazers in WCF?
So I was thinking about this the other day and thanks to the "Attendance" post below, it came back to me...
Considering the current state of attendance around the league, would it be in the NBA's best interest to possibly "help" the Blazers get into a spot in the standings to pit the L*kers and Blazers in the WCF? This way if they just happened to meet there, the NBA would reap the benefits of packed home games off each team. Same thing with the Cav's and Celt's in the east. Only they are the #1 and #2 seeds currently.
Dont get me wrong, I have complete trust in the officials *choke**cough**cough* to ref a fair game here and there. But would it surprise anyone to see the Blazers pull off a game or two in the playoffs, where there may be questionable calls, just to boost getting butts in the seats? I mean if we can take anything from this last year (see the junk they tried to feed us during all star weekend for one) It wouldnt surprise me.
I am not taking anything away from Portland, they have worked dang hard this year, and making it into the playoffs this year will prove that.

possible
I think TV ratings are more important to Stern than attendance at this phase of things.. but I am not sure.. more ad revenue directly to the league?

Seriously?
WCF games are always sellouts no matter who’s playing. You can’t compare Memphis struggling to fill their arena for a midseason game to Utah or Dallas in the playoffs.
Far more important to the league for revenue generation is having larger markets go farther. You’re going to get 20k people at the games no matter who’s playing, but you’re far more likely to get more television viewers if it’s the Rockets/L*kers/Dallas in the playoffs.

One game at a time....
and, regardless of how I feel after games about the poor officiating… I am not certain those refs have any adjenda except their own. It is ego that drives refs to mess with players or coaches, and we all know this is a superstar league so stars get better calls… so it is fair for all teams with stars.
That being said, I think the Blazers will be a threat even though they are young… BUT as far as the Attendance question goes… IF Portland ALREADY has fans that are fully supporting thier team, WOULDN’T it be in better interest to help another good team whose team wasn’t as fired up as the Portland’s faithful? I mean, Stearn and the Conspiracy Squad must be thinking… “Let’s get New Orleans into the WCF, so that we can help add aditional revenue out of that community… we don’t need to favor Portland as we are already max-sucking them fiscally dry”
That is my take…

I don't know
if they have enough money for the black helicopters also.
Seriously, I think those games – any playoff game – will be sold out.

Blazers are not the only team getting some darn good fan support right now.
Watch a Utah home game. That crowd is rabid and has been all season. Dallas and Phoenix also play to packed, enthusiastic crowds. Really, New Orleans and to a lesser extent Denver are the only teams that don’t have good home crowds in the west playoffs.

Yes.
The NBA conspiracy extends to making sure the home arena is likely to sell out, even though the last 30 conference finals series have sold out every game. Good call.
Just kidding.
It’s all about tv ratings. Any team in the league would sell out the conference finals, and there’s no money in that for the league, anyway. Unfortunately, Portland is a mall metro area, and that means…
…um, I mean, probably nothing. Officials aren’t trying to guide particular teams to the promised land.
Ok, Mr. Stern, I said it… could you please turn off the electro-shock now.

the nba is fixed, that’s why more than half of the usa has tuned the nba out.except for the spurs and lebron,no nba small market team has a chance to win the nba title under d.stern.

This never gets old
It’s all a conspiracy!
Stern kept Portland from drafting Jordan, hence the Bulls titles.
Stern rigged the coinflip that gave the Rockets Hakeem, and their 2 titles.
Stern rigged the draft to KEEP Boston from getting a good pick, knowing they’d pick up KG and Allen.
Stern destroyed Hardaway’s leg so that Shaq would want to leave Orlando for L.A., then Stern told 1/3 of the teams in the NBA NOT to draft Kobe or he’d ban them.
Stern is the reason the New Orleans, Memphis, and Atlanta can’t fill their home court.
Stern isn’t afraid of the dark, the dark is afraid of Stern.
