Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Media Day Live Chat Today

We'll be doing live video chats with the players throughout the day, in a simalar fashion to what we did prior to the start of the season. You can follow along here. Bayless already rolled through (sorry ben!) but we'll have most of the players throughout the day.

Send in your questions, comments, ect. I'll be in there chatting for most of the day so if for some reason you actually have a question for me, go ahead and ask. Name dropping Blazer's Edge is not only permitted, but encouraged.

Team building question

Generic question for anyone/everyone.

It goes along the lines of “what do players study to make themselves a better team?”

Do they read team building books and learn about different styles of communication, conflict, accountability, results? Do they read or watch video on stars of the past and figure out what moves they did, strategies used, how conflicting personalities gelled?

I know the guys practice moves, I know they have a good sense of team, although until lately they didn’t hold each other accountable like they should have been. The ability to have conflict is part of the team, and a strong team survives and becomes better because that conflict helps people find the best solution and at least creates communication so people can be aware of issues.

So, outside of practicing basic moves, what do these guys (coaches and players) do to improve their mental toughness and strategy on the floor? I know you feel it when you’re out there, but you have to practice moves a lot to be able to naturally feel it too.

paraphrase or whatever, that’s my question.

The goal is not to be better, the goal is to be the best.

Basically I'm looking for

how does the team work form, how is it grown, and what these guys do to learn the game besides just jump shooting. What do they look for when they review tapes? what do they see?

The goal is not to be better, the goal is to be the best.

Censored me too.

“For Sergio and Bayless: has your relationship been affected by the fight for the backup PG position, if exists?”
Not cool and bad grammar, probably.

Sergio + Rudy = 16
Sergio + Bayless = 16
Batum 8+8=16

I just asked if greg was doing anything special because he is starting to look younger. Or maybe he is the real Benjamin Button.

Not cool Casey

Sweet, Casey also confirmed Ben's/Amlmart's sign language about B-Roy

So in the future we hope for more than Nate swinging his fist late in games? ;-)

When someone asked who his BFF was he said, “Probably Channing because we live in the same building.”

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
