Oden Talk on TBJ
This morning's episode of The Basketball Jones featured a discussion of last night's game along with some heavy compliments for Greg Oden.
Here's a picture of Tas Melas scaring the jeepers out of JE Skeets by doing his Greg Oden Post-Dunk Celebration impersonation.
Surely that whetted your appetite. Go check the podcast out now. Oden talk starts about 5 minutes in.

This should be a P.S. in a fanpost
Oh wait, it is :)
Yes, the Jones is starting to really like the Blazers since they don’t have much to like about the Raptors these days. And it sounded like they especially liked the atmosphere of a close game.
they loved us
since we made their liveblog a success! usually they get 5-10 ppl, the blazer one had 70 lol.
Rip City Baby...People have no idea what is coming.

Ehhh....
The commentary was fairly benign but I have to agree that Oden had a hop to his step last night that hasn’t been seen this season. His dunk via an Outlaw feed reminded me somewhat of the summer league dunk against Dallas. When I first saw that dunk on NBA TV I pulled an Andy Sandberg
thanks for the link
look how skinny and quick he was! Nice to see glimpses of that again

Skeets and Melas
are pretty great. I’ve got basketball Jones in my google reader and they are pretty great most mornings.
From the back of Travis Outlaw's Franz card: Travis leads the team in monstrous thunder dunks, wins awards for post game interviews, and often gets extra points for degree of difficulty.
From the back of Greg Oden's Franz card: Nickname: Jaws. Has an insatiable desire to tear rims apart while cruising the open court, and was once interested in using head-gear for his profession.
Their podcast is pretty funny. I sub'd last week and have been watching them whilest at the gym.

I like those kids
I just did some Google because I’ve been meaning too.
Just watched the episode
pretty good. I think I disagree with them calling this the “best Oden,” as I’d argue he’s had a game or two that was better, but overall, there’s no question Oden played one heckuva game.

In their defense
Melas also said the best Oden HE had seen, and then admitted he hasn’t seen a lot.
We’ve seen Oden play better as Blazer fans who watch every game or die, and Oden has had better games statistically on national television, but that was one of the few games Oden was HAPPY (seeming) and showing attitude that he SHOULD show.
So, to the relative layman (not that they’re NBA laymen, but relative to how many Oden games WE watch, anyone else is a laymen by default) seeing Oden like that, showing emotion, being active even after missing even more games than the ankle sprain… it looks real nice.
As an Oden Homer, it made the loss more enjoyable. Any flashes of the total DOMINANCE he will make others suffer through makes me happy. We get his feet wet and he gets rolling in the playoffs, all bets are off.
Mortihomer
good point...he doesn't sit around and watch every oden move
and be like OMGosh he smiled on the bench i think!!!!

That's been rejected here many times.
Fracturing and shattered tibias are quite a bit different
from microfracture surgery (not completely needed) and a
chipped kneecap. Oh, and a fractured wrist.
That sounds like a lot, but a shattered tibia is very, very serious !!
Poor Sam ! A terrible thing to happen to such a nice guy !
It's GO time !
I've never listened to the podcast
but after that, I’ll be a faithful TBJ listener. Great entertainment.
draft dejuan blair
It's a good show
I’ve listened to it for a few years now, but sadly this season I’ve been too busy to keep up with any of the podcasts I listened to last season. It used to be only an audio podcast, so I’ve missed most everything since they went to video…
Listen to it and like it and see them quiver in fear of the emails and calls they’ll get if they talk bad about the Blazers. We go nuts!
