Sergio's numbers are superior
by just about every metric.
See http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/POR/2009.html
Scroll down to "advanced stats."
Little known point--S leads the team in steals rate as well as assist rate.
Amazingly, their stats have Sergio as superior to both Blake and Bayless on defense. See DRtg.
82games.com also has S as superior on defense by their metric.
See
http://www.82games.com/0809/0809POR.HTM
Look at the "opp" column.
If one has been following these stats,it is noteworthy that Sergio's assist/turnover stats were very similar to those of Steve Nash for much of the year. Also, ESPN gives a lower turnover rate for S than does Basketball reference.
It is also noteworthy that the numbers of both of them have declined as the year has gone on. In particular, the numbers of Bayless have plummeted in the past few weeks. His numbers were much better a month ago.
Finally, both of them look terrible if you take PER as your guide. Both have declined considerably in recent weeks. (to #47 and #63 respectively).

The Faith don't panic, the faith freaks out burns out farms and torchs small villages in the name of The Faith.
Well, we've all known this for awhile...
Aside from the obvious stuff like Blake playing against stiffer competition than the others and Bayless being a rookie is there any other reason why he shouldn’t be heralded for his good play?
Didn't you read Dave's post

These stats are incomplete
They need to track the following:
1. How big your entourage gets when you walk in downtown Portland? The truly great players will have a big following after only a couple of blocks.
2. What do these 3 each eat for breakfast? People who eat whole chickens typically are better than cereal eaters.
3. How many languages do you speak? Klingon does count by the way, as does dinosaur.
4. Do you actually know how much wood a woodchuck can chuck? If you are not zen enough to know this, you are not zen enough to be my starting PG.
Once these 4 questions are answered, the PG problem will be solved.
Of course Bayless was playing better a month ago
He was actually playing. With Blake out he had the oprotunity to get good minutes and he used most of them well.
and Jarrett likes playing in Indy
more than he would’ve liked sitting behind Blake, Roy and Rudy in Portland
(let Jack go, he’s not walking back through the PF door)
I know I need to let him go
but Serg and Bayless the JLess just don’t do anything for me.

dont hate commenters.
serg is pretty good, just struggling this season.
ARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGH!!!!!!!!- Sabonis getting fouled.
What we really want to know...
(1) Who could wash a car faster with a sponge, Sergio or Bayless?
Pontiff of the Pryz for Prez Posse...
................... and .........................
(2) Who could 1-up Shaq freestyling on Kobe better, Bayless or Sergio?
Pontiff of the Pryz for Prez Posse...
.................... and .........................
(3) If you could only pick one of the two to dress up in a big pink Easter Bunny outfit to give out candy eggs to 6 year olds, who would be a better choice, Sergio or Bayless?
Pontiff of the Pryz for Prez Posse...
Dunno, man, he really doesn't fill out those arms very well...
Pontiff of the Pryz for Prez Posse...
these metrics do not matter!
when you can watch the game and see who is actually putting some pressure on the ball rather than trying not to have their ankles broken.
Steals also seem to occur when the game is very up and down, more often when sergio is in

putting constant pressure
isn’t exactly great defense either. granted it was due to inexperience…at the start of the year bayless was playing such tight defense when the ball was going up the court that the ballhandler would blow by him and he was running alongside the handler. i’m not seeing that as much lately, but pressure isn’t exactly the best thing either.

I agree with you Philthy...
I don’t care which one of them is in the game, if they do something good, I will give them the appropriate exclamation points!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If we did that
then there would be no sergio suppoters hating Bayless and no Bayless supporters hating on Sergio. I think Bedge would probably crash for lack of discussion topics taking up 1/10th of all fan posts.
