Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

Open Thread: March Madness (Day 2)

Upset potentials Utah State and North Dakota State are within shouting distance at the half. Syracuse is blowing out Stephen F. Austin (who, I was excited to learn, have a 5'3" player AND a 27-year-old). Oklahoma State leads Tennessee by 4, also at the half. Arizona St/Temple, Utah/Arizona, Wisconsin/Florida St., Siena/Ohio St., Cleveland St./Wake Forest, Xavier/Portland St. (Go Viks!), West Virginia/Dayton, USC/Boston College all on tap for later, plus what should be some 1/16 and 2/15 blowouts

Talk about the games here

Final Scores:

(3) Syracuse 59, (14) Stephen F. Austin 44

(3) Kansas 84, (14) North Dakota State 74

(8) Oklahoma State 77, (9) Tennessee 75

(6) Marquette 58, (11) Utah State 57

(6) Arizona State 66, (11) Temple 57

(1) Pittsburgh 72, (16) East Tennessee State 62

(3) Missouri 78, (14) Cornell 59

(11) Dayton 68, (6) West Virginia 60

You see commercials

And it doesn’t let you change the channel to another game when commercials are on. You have to cleverly change channels when you know commercials are coming or else you get stuck.

Ugh, what’s with the long layoff between games now? It’s already 10:30 pm here

by inroywetrust on Mar 20, 2009 2:26 PM PDT reply actions

They have a midday break, from like 2pm to 5pm, then pick up through primetime.

Sometimes they have one game during that period. Yesterday, they put the UW game right during this stretch, so it wasn’t televised nationally.

Skipping the overtime?

You won’t miss much. 4th quarter is a must though.

by Timmay! on Mar 20, 2009 2:45 PM PDT up reply actions

Oh, I'll watch that as well

I kind of view the game as a win… proud of the guys that they didn’t collapse in the late third quarter, as they’ve done in most tough road games.

The best part of March Madness has started!

I can’t believe that item was worth $2,800. They all waaaay underbid.

Ok, gearing up for round 2 of March Madness.

Some good NBA action tonight as well.

Would Arizona be the least “darling” 12-seed ever if they won?

They are favored to win the game.

I wish they were going up against Xavier instead of Wake Forest though

Wake Forest is the toughest 4 in the Tourney, imo

They’re really fun to watch, a nice change of pace from what is usually seen in the tourney, particularly among the mid-majors

Alright

ready for the second batch of games.

Is Chase Budinger more than a jump shooter?

I doubt there is a need for him on our team, just interested in general.

Utah needs to get with the program

….i can’t believe i’m watching CBB. i get lucky with a bunch of picks and suddenly i give a damn. Come on utah, validate me!

Here is why I picked Dayton over West Virginia

WV had Kevin Pittsnoggle, who got a ton of press, then went on to be the MVP of his local 76 gas station. Dayton is down the highway from Newberg where I went to college. Therefore, Dayton >West Virginia.

When USC beats Michigan State, I will explain why I believe the power of “Trojan.”

I do believe in Greg, I do believe in Greg. I do I do I do I do I do believe in Greg.

I'm sure it's been pointed out

that sons of two members who take the Blazer plane to games are in the tourney (Rice and Nate).

What is up with Wake Forest?

I take comfort is knowing that nobody picked Wake to lose, so we all go down together.

unbelieveable...

this always happens in the tournament. A lesser team gets hot and upsets the superior team. Hopefully, Wake wins. I have them going 2 more rounds.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
