The NBA Fails its Fans Again
I am wondering if anyone else has noted todays removal of all nba highlights from you tube? I certainly have. The NBA has failed to realize that by removing these videos im no more likely to use their terrible video website. It never has the highlights i want to see and simply doesnt work when it does. This will have the net result of reducing the amount of time i spend thinking about the nba and which has a huge influence on my intrest in non Blazer NBA games. I hope they will come around to the fact that they are throwing away free advertising and publicty.

My biggest issue with NBA.com
Is the organization of information is terrible on top of most of their highlights don’t even get basic information correct. I couldn’t watch the Clippers game last week and had to go to nba.com to see highlights. It was a joke, they couldn’t do simple math on score changes let alone get players names correct. They sites Aldridge getting a lob from Blake, when it was in fact Batum (you could even read his jersey on the replay). If nba.com wants more viewers, they need to get their act together and not botch simple things that any reasonable person realizes is incorrect.
What are you impressions of Roy?
"He's just a very, very good basketball player. Very smart. Very heady. He can do a little bit of everything on the court. As coaches, when we scout Portland we kind of put him in the same category as Kobe (Bryant), LeBron (James), Dwyane Wade. We treat him the same. He's that good."

The NBA is about as saavy with technology as the republicans
Their videos suck , we get that. BUt it doesn’t stop there. The NBAleaguepass and contrived blogs, the shoody stat reporting and lack of due diligence in stories show that the NBA has not changed it’s business model in 20 years. They aren’t conforming to the reality of today. They haven’t integrated their company with useful and viable technology.
Youtube in and of itself is , to me, representative of all free online games/movies/highlights.
Removing this, or trying to remove all unauthorized material from the internet is a waste of time and money and is useless or as I would normally say: STUPID. What they need to do is create a stategy to youthenize their approach. TV commercials and the allstar game aren’t enough. They want to internationalize the league too? Right. That is currently impossible without use of the net to it’s full extent.

well
I have to say.. the leaguepass broadband is pretty good. in fact I would say that the NBA along with the NFL have actually progressed far beyond any other sport its in ability to appeal to the masses using the internet. I agree that taking files off youtube is absurd, but they have done a pretty good job of keeping plugged in users aware of whats going on in the league. My biggest issue with NBA.com other than their terrible organization of the website, and SLOW stats, is that they dont have any objective reporting. the NFL network employes commentators who arent censored and say unflattering things from time to time. The NBA has a vicegrip on its employees who are forced to toe the line.
NBA.com SHOULD offer a video playback service similar to youtube, but I understand why they do it. They dont get paid by youtube to show their product. It makes sense from a business standpoint

I have to disagree with you.....
I dont know much about the NFL league pass online, but I use NBA Leaguess broadband and MLB extra innings online and when you compare the NBA leaguepass boradband to MLB’s extra innings online, the NBA league pass is flat out embarissing. The diffrence is huge bewteen the two, the NBA is ages behing MLB when it come to using the internet to appeal to the masses. I would have to agree with the statement that the NBA has no idea how to use technology to advance its product. All that the NBA league pass is, is a cheap, amature copy of what Baseball has been doing for well over five years.
I have never had MLB Extra Innings
but in no way shape or form is the MLB way ahead on the internet. They are SORELY lacking and I think they would admit that. The one benefit of MLB on the internet is that the game moves slowly. NBA is much more akin to Soccer where MLB and NFL are more alike in that the action is slow. Slow enough to update quickly.
MLB is struggling to appeal to a younger generation and lack of internet exposure is why

you could not be more wrong.....
How can you argue with me over this when you admit you have never used MLB Extra Innings? MLB’s exposure problems have nothing to do with the internet, it has to do with how baseball is precieved within the younger generation. NBA.com can in no way stack up to all the features of MLB.com. Do you realize that MLB started broadcasting games over the internet for at the minimum of 5 years, while this is the NBA’s first season were the are offering it. The NBA, when it comes to using technology is way behind MLB and the NFL.
they had league pass lat year

Its not as if I have never been to MLB.com or used their internet site. I just dont feel like paying big money for the games.

The TV commercials are really bad
That guy on the bus, he’s not cool, hip or appealing to the younger generation. I can’t stand them. The only one I like is the one with LeBron, but that lost it’s appeal about the 40th time I saw it.

crazy
how can you not like kevin love getting put under the bus….. and marc jackson wearing the uni…. great stuff. brings a little history. i get upset when i see that one in a bar, and i hear some young kid (im only 24, still young myself) not realize why he’s wearing that uniform…. they dont even know who he is. dissapointing =\
.. or for all you david lee fans, the 30 second clock in the bathroom.
I don't know what you're talking about
I guess I only see a few of the commercials they are airing.

NBA.COM
their video archives are just horrendous. searching for anything is cumbersome, non-intuitive.
the worse part is you have to watch the stupid commercial everytime you play a video. It’s ridiculous. I’m trying to be a fan and watch a bunch of top 10s or plays of the day in a row, and i spend an agonizing amount of time watching the same commercial over and over again. is it too much to ask that they store your session ID, and once you’ve watched the commercial on your first video view, give you subsequent videos commercial-free?
Rule #1 of nitpicking is to get it right.
What videos were removed?
The NBA channel on YouTube is fully functional, all the classic games I added to my favorites are still active.
The NBA has done the best job in using the internet. Their website leaves something to be desired, but I find if refreshing that they have allowed hundreds of games to be posted on YouTube without their consent, and none of them have been taken down.
Confusion breeds success. If they don't know each other, opponents can't have strategy. GENIUS.
I just saw the Bulls-Blazers 1992 Finals Game 3 posted
I hope someone post a game where the Blazers actually won….
The cake is a lie. Do not bake it.

Way to give up free publicity. Probably just cost yourself several million dollars.
how? i fail to see how that works
from a business prospective it doesnt make sense. they have their own channel on youtube.

yeah what i hate is
that lately they have been cracking down on all those unauthorized internet justin.tv/atdhe.net/channelsurfing.net/sopcast feeds and it is getting hard to watch games for free.
This is a big problem that the NBA must fix because with the economy the way it is I do not have money to pay for Crapcast just for Blazer games when I can watch them for free online and on my new DTV box.
Oh well I guess I will have to go out to the bars on game night to watch the game.
BOOOOO NBA
"Damn the Blazers. Damn them to hell. They are working the rest of the league like a speed bag." - Bill Simmons 6/26/08
That wretched woman on NBA.com
who does the play by play for the highlights. I don’t want to sound sexist, because I have heard a woman do good highlight commentary, but she reminds me of a community college radio host. It’s terrible, she sounds unnatural and she often gets the names wrong. I knew kids back when I was in high school who could do a better job than her. Get some professionals NBA.
Blazers Prophecy.
3-5 championships in next decade.
You heard it here first.
THANK YOU
Dear god the woman has the most annoying grating voice I’ve ever heard and she clearly doesn’t know anything about the game and is just reads it. She is so god awful everytime I see it I think I should send and audition tape of me doing highlights.
Clearly this woman slept her way into the job or is related to someone high up.
my typed impression
lamarcus AL-drinch..
the hoop plus the foul..
later..
in the third..
steve blake puts up the shot..
and it is good..
JUST GET THE HIGHLIGHT DONE ALREADY.
i'm ready to graduate now.
kthx.
