Me too.
I just wonder if he’s still steppin on the baseline.
And not in the Jazzy, let’s take the Bass for a walk kind of baseline. The CURSE YOU JACK, YOU’VE STEPPED ON THE BASELINE FOR THE LAST TIME. Kind of baseline.
I know less than half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

a question was posed by a pacer fan
“did jack commit alot of jump pass turnovers when he was in Portland too”?
so im guessing that yeah, he still does

Ya ha!
That’s why we traded him! so he could put up big numbers against the Nuggets during a key stretch. I hope he gets a warm reception when he comes to town on Tuesday. I’m glad things seem to be working well for him out there.
It took my two years to come up with an avatar and sig
and this is the best I could come up with.

Punch anyone who doesn't cheer him for me
I’ll be annoyed if he isn’t treated nicely.
MURDEROUSLY annoyed.
CHEER FOR JARRETT JACK, EVERYONE.

Agreed
Jack may have trademarked the step out of bounds on your drive play, but he was a good guy and teammate as far as I can tell. Guys like Udoka and Jack deserve a warm reception.

Jack was the man
I loved him not backing down an inch to Lamar Odom.

yeah, he will get applause
even people like me, who really were not fans of his game, always appreciated that he left it all on the court and was a team-first player who really wanted to win.

Maybe I just missed them
but I haven’t seen a single post lamenting the Blazers trading Jack away. Did he step out of bounds one too many times?
Good for him either way

It'll be a trade we look back on for years to come.... if Bayless rots, then we look like fools. If Bayless is more than Telfair and Jack, then we rule.
We have a history of just average PGs. Who knows if Bayless is the answer, but Jack wasn’t too bad in the interim.

I'm thinking we might rue sending Von Wafer away.
Why did we never give this guy a chance. What little we saw of him looked pretty good while he was here.

I recommend asking Lewis and Clark to come back and scope for us a PG.
The blazers have a hard time evaluating, predicting PG talent. I don’t know what the issue is, but its been here for long time. The last PG I truly liked in a Blazer uniform, who I’d also bring back if time was still, is Terry Porter. I think TP is still our best PG ever in a Blazer uniform. I hope for a better one in the future!!

i'd bring back Strickland.
and Stoudamire, minus the pot and those last few years.

Fat Lever
Would’ve probably been as good as Porter, but he was dealt (instead of Darnell Valentine) in the Vandeweghe deal
Which probably helps proves your point, the Blazers GMs (from Inman through Nash) have been weak at evaluating/drafting/developing point guards
Here’s hoping KP has “bucked the trend” with Bayless

he lays behind roy, and we had rudy in the wings, unfortunate nassessaty

It was expected that in the short term the deal would be better for the Pacers
Jack still has the old problems like getting a bit too many turnovers and being a bit too inconsistent. Still he is very valuable for his new team, with his ability to create shots for himself and draw fouls. McBob gets a little more burn than with the Blazers, but not much (20 games so far). Brandon Rush also doesn’t have a great rookie season with worse efficiency than Bayless despite more minutes, and he is three years older (and he plays on the position of Roy and Rudy). In the mid to long term the deal should swing more in the direction of the Blazers, but it looks like it was really fair for both parties.

Nice Try
Bayless has an eff rating of +4.94
Brandon Rush has an eff rating of +5.61
nba.com is your friend.
BTW Rush is averaging 21.4 mpg, while Bayless is only averaging 14.3 mpg
Why don't athletes who thank god when they win, blame god when they lose.

That's one metric.
In another metric, Rush has a PER of 7.3 (woeful) and Bayless has a PER of 11.0 (less woeful)— 15.0 is league average. I think its clear Bayless has a much higher upside.
I agree with Norsk that for now it looks like a deal that makes sense for both parties.

TS% 52.1 vs. 46.6, PER 11.12 (not really good) vs. 7.35 (bad), I already said Rush gets more minutes which usually helps efficiency
The only area where Rush is clearly better is outside shooting. And as I said, he is significantly older.

Thats comparing the wrong players.
Portland never had a chance to get rush. He was a pacer all the way. What they did do was give up Jack and McBob to get Indiana to pick Bayless for them and give them Ike. Without the trade Indiana gets Rush and Bayless is gone. Who would have Portland have picked in that case? That’s the player you add to Jack and compare as a package to Bayless. Bayless has to be better than Jack in the long run to make this a better trade.

1x82
No, I think he step out about 82 too many times.
Actually I don’t mind Jack, he was just not the guy to lead us to the promised land.

Wonder if he's improved on the fast break where
he was simply awful while with us. That’s kind of an important area for a PG.
Thanks Norsktroll for the evaluation of the trade to this point.
Brandon Roy just destroyed everything in his path. There's your rational analysis -- Dave

Jack is not a pure PG
Jarrett thinks of himself as a PG, but the Blazers (correctly) evaluated him as a combo guard
with the anticipation of Rudy coming in there was no room for Jack, and Blake was the better PG to play alongside Roy
Jack’s strength (powering to the hole and drawing fouls) is duplicated by Bayless

JJ1 is playing 2 guard for the Pacers
It’ll be fun to see him matched up against Roy. Roy will probably tear Jack a new one, but Jack will most likely tread over our pick and roll defense.
The cake is a lie. Do not bake it.

He's hard to stop when he gets rolling
I remember Jack could take games over by himself. Someone just had to shove him or hit him in the head. and it was on! Keep it clean blazers. I’ll give the standing cheer, and I really hope he steps on that sideline for good old times, another standing ovation!

The only man who can stop Jack is Jack himself.
unfortuneately he is his own worst enemy. Think fast breaks and driving from the corner. I wish him well but am happy with his replacements. Jack would not have been happy playing second fiddle, so much behind Blake.
