Walking In Memphis - - #25 Totally represented (with pictures) UPDATED 3/19

I had the opportunity to get out to Memphis for the game on Monday - - - Met up with a BEdger (Heathos33 see below) from out near Little Rock and managed to meet - - -well - - a great number of Travis Outlaw's family, friends and followers.  Seems that a large part of Travis's family lives around the Memphis area

There were nearly as many Outlaw fans as there were Grizzly fans - especially if you used an enthusiasm factor. My seats were in the same section as one set of his aunts,  uncles, nieces and nephews. Before the night was over, any chance of me remembering most anyones name from his entourage was slim.

Everyone was so nice and kind and fun - - and everyone wanted to be sure that I met his mom - - so I'm putting her picture first

Then of course they wanted to be sure  met his Grandfather who was getting in a little granddaughter love as I was getting his picture

3367224722_e188e2013c_medium

Of course I wasn't the only one getting to say hello...the big blue "back" is LaMarcus, and I think you will recognize #7 in street clothes. The guy n the foreground with the very cool red  Trailblazer hat is Travis's brother..

3367267130_f04df006ce_medium

I only saw Travis dad from across the room..he has the hat on and the coolest Travis Outlaw shirt on that ever was made...His uncle was telling me later that night that a good look at dad would give some clues as to the future upper body strength development that we should expect from Trav. 3366401155_540b10fd62_medium

This cute little family group (Trav's aunt, niece and nephews) sat behind me during the game..the uncle was a little camera shy (I ALWAYS ask permission!!) but he softened up later...

Below is part of the group of 5 uncles and two cousins with whom I had the pleasure of taking in the sights and sounds of BB Kings Blues Club on Beale St. after the game...

We found Darius Miles car, but didn't see him....

Thanks to Travis's family for making me feel like one of the gang...They were pressing me to come back for the 4/7 game, and I'm having a  hard time thinking why not...

Seems like Outlaw has a great family. Gotta love Memphis.

Thanks to Travis Outlaw's family for letting us be a part of this.

It gives me a better picture of why Travis goes home in the break. Family is important. Outlaw seems like a great BBall role model.

Thanks to LetsBlaze for caring enough about BEdge to bring us these great pics.

These pics are great. I feel relieved that my motherhood duties

are being shared and in good hands with Mama Outlaw and the rest of Trav’s family. He’s a lucky guy. No wonder he’s such a sweetheart. Thanks for sharing these LetsBlaze. I think it’s wonderful that they all just gathered you in and made you a part of Trav’s extended family. Good people.

I wonder if dad locked Trout in the weight room this summer if the Blazers would have all of their “backup power forward problems” solved?

was it just coincidence

that the uncles and cousins are standing under a speed limit 25 sign (Travis’ number)?

Thanks LetsBlaze!!

Yes, I am that lucky fan from Little Rock who got to take my best friend and watch the game with LetsBlaze in Memphis. Great seats, great company, great game (we won), horrible attendance. And my first ever nba game to attend, thanks for everything LB!!

Just another piece of what make Outlaw one of my Blazer favorites.

I am seriously believing that the Blazers should fly in Outlaw’s family for all playoff games, at least until we loose one. It does seem they bring out the best in their boy.

nice work gentlemen. Hope you told them about the core contingent here that adores Travis. Wondering if Travis’ family does any Bedgin’.

One of Quick's articles

was about how Travis was rowdy on off days, and would whup up on his brother, etc. IIRC, Travis knew that there were Blazer fans “hatin’ on him” out there in cyberspace. So I assume “somebody” is reading blogs like this and it’s getting back to him

by two4larue on Mar 20, 2009 4:48 PM PDT up reply actions

His cousin who was credited with the "fans hate Travis" quote told me he was seriously misrepresented in that article

and his point was that there is always SOMEONE in every crowd who is a doubter or a hater and that the players gotta expect that and be bigger than it….It was the same cousin in the pic next to Darius’s car…

Oh and if they didn't Bedge before, they are out here now, cause they gonna look for these pictures

so be respectful! Trav’s a great guy and deserves to be treated well :-)

I knew it !!

I feel like I got a warning from the Grand Poobah after making some pretty vehement comments about that particular story because I was being “mean spirited.” Now we see Travis’ cousin was misrepresented if not misquoted for the sake of sensationalist journalism, not unlike the kind the MSP belches, and all for what purpose?

This is what really gets my goat. Trashing a good guy like Travis and manipulating the context of his own cousin to portray an image that is entirely invalid and unsubstantiated. It reeks for many reasons. One, namely, using one of Travis’ family in such a way as to make him the purveyor of disenchantment, and another, putting it on the fans as if we’re too fan-bred to know the difference.

Just so Travis, his cousin and his family know- Travis is a much respected Trail Blazer, and #1 guy in my book.
