Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Dime #48 features our boy Brandon Roy in his first national mag cover. Odd it took so long for a rookie of the year/two-time all-star.

That's great

I love that it’s a BBall shot. Most of their covers are G-d up tools (a la LBJ’s lame biting of the necklace). Glad the NBA still has players that like their jobs and aren’t trying to be rappers.

What is a magazine?

There won't be clean officiating in the NBA until David Stern is forcibly removed by the US Congress in 2013 for fixing games.

is it just me

or does Brandon seem to glow in all his pictures? Either he’s a demigod or he has a fantastic complexion.

He looks confused ;-)

They couldn’t find a picture where he is either more aggressive or more smiling?

Love It!!

I love that he is on a magazine. I will have to go out and buy that one. Agree though would have loved a more aggressive picture but I guess what they chose is more his style.

I hope I can get a bunch of championships, like 15. " - Greg Oden

sick

im out of compliments and gushes about roy, he’s a baller, straight up.

"In general, I hate the snap judgments. I hate the rush to predict things. I hate the sports culture that can't think of anything to say unless it is predicting things. I dislike the over-hyping and the following angst-ridden crashes. I dislike the overdrawn, over-simplified, nuance-free generalizations that sprout like weeds over the conversational landscape because accuracy and fairness and truth don't fit as neatly between commercials or quote as easily around the water cooler."

i run into the same problem

it’s hard to come up with new compliments, because you’ve already used them all on him.

Missing one thing...

Those half sideburns, beard things he likes to rock. Can someone tell me exactly what style that is? I’m thinking about growing some myself.

I think you’re right Tofu. I see Steve Blake, Rudy, and Nicolas Batum rockin’ the beard as well. It’s a chemistry thing. I’ve noticed it since Rudy’s bad fall.

I thought Nic was baby faced

till I saw the game on the HD channel. He has a little scruff coming in, which I find quite handsome.

I Blazersedge daily, nightly and ever so rightly.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
