You know he wants to play bad in front of his Indiana relatives.

I’d really like to see him try to play, even if he’s only 90% right now. We don’t need him to play 30 minutes or anything. It would be nice if he could get 10 to 15 minutes off the bench to get him slowly back into shape running up and down the court. All the better if he can contribute a little bit.

That could really be taken two different ways.

by Timmay! on Mar 17, 2009 1:36 PM PDT up reply actions

lol

actually it can be taken three different ways: He badly wants to play, we wants to play poorly, or he wants to play like the BAD, BAD MAN that he is.

lol

I think he should take that a bit further. Instead of tearing off his warmups before coming in, he should just respond to Nate’s call from the bench by strolling off, wearing a leather jacket while working a toothpick in his mouth. With a sneer on his face, he then slides the jacket off and hands it to the ball boy.

Then he comes in and stares down the opposing center, making said opposing center slightly wet himself.

Oden’s line after 15 minutes: 12-13 FG, 6-7 FT, 30 pts., 15 reb., 4 ast., 1 soiled opponent.

Now THAT would be a BAD performance. :)

Yes! Yes! In the face!

we need to make sure hes fully healed (not sure thats actually possible). Priz has been dynomite, and Fry’s done his job giving him a rest. Save Oden for the cavs ot Sat’s game. just my twp cents.

He was so close to getting the rust knocked off when he banged knees

Answer me this?

Was he really a tin man or a tin coated man? My self talk is that he is like a tin roof, which I believe is some sort of steel coated in tin. I had an awkward date in high school with a girl who lived in a home with a rusted tin roof.

They can't baby Oden anymore..

He was a #1 pick. He’s supposed to be an imposing physical force. He needs to get out on the court and play.

by EazyRider on Mar 17, 2009 2:14 PM PDT up reply actions

Bad call.... nobody is "Babying" Oden...

It is called an injury dude. Have you ever played sports? Coaches will ask “are you hurt or are you injured?” Hurt means it is just pain and you will play through it, injured means you have to heal, recover, rehab something. Anyone who believes that Oden has just been hurt through this time is a hater. No way a pro athlete with as much pride on the line that Oden has on the line, with his entire career on the line is going to simply sit out with a boo-boo and let coaches “baby” and thus give media pundits and irritable hand-wringer fans the fuel to call out his man-hood. Not a chance! Oden has been injured and it was worse than originally diagnosed by the doctors. Oden must be hella frusterated because all athletes want to do is get on the floor to play and prove it.

Nothing is worst than having a pile of haters continually calling your man-hood out WHILE you are actually injured.

That is like trying to pick a fight with a guy who is being wheeled around in a wheel chair covered in body casts from being run over by a truck. “C’mon dude, not that tough now are ya? What you don’t want to prove how tough you are right now?” Ridiculous.

This season’s success is “in the bag”… Portland will make playoffs with or without Oden over the last quarter of the season. Yes, we need him in the playoffs. But your frusterations as a fan make you want him “Out on the court and playing” now, when that is far from what is in the best interest of the franchise now and primarily in the long run.

WOW, way to read way too far into my comment and overreact.....

First of all, I would like to let you know “dude” that I’m a huge Oden fan (I bought his freaking authentic jersey) and my confidence in him as a player has never wavered. I have never questioned his desire or manhood.

My comment was not a critique on his manhood or calling his injury fake. However, I do feel that if Greg is ready to play that the Blazers should be choosing which game to bring him back for because one might he easier than the other.

All I was saying is that the Blazers management shouldn’t baby him back into a game with a lesser opponent. I never said anyone was babying him. Look closer at Drivethelanes comment about bringing him back against an easier opponent. I replied to his comment and was basically saying that if they bring him back against a weaker opponent, even though he is ready to play, “then” they would be babying Greg.

Like you said, he’s tough, therefore he needs to play as soon as he is ready because we are in the playoff hunt and the team clearly needs him.

Yes I’ve played many sports and I still do, and I’ve played them hurt. Did I ever state that I was a tough guy? Or that I would be playing if I were him? No, you said that.

Thank Jedi master PDX Dynasty for your amazing wisdom and incredible ability to jump to conclusions and put words in peoples mouths. Your can forever remove me from your pile of Oden haters.

I’m a die hard Blazer fan. I watched every game of the Jail Blazer Era and would go to a ton of the games during the 20 win season. I watched every game like it were a playoff game. I love this team and this town and I always have and will.

You know he wants to play in Indiana...

Would love to see GO beast the boards tomorrow night. Oden. Oden. Oden. I still believe.

Great to see him coming back

At this point, however, I’d prefer to see him off the bench for the rest of the season. He seemed to play better in that situation anyway, and Joel has been an absolute monster for the past ten games.

Oden interview

Here’s an interview from the Fieldhouse today.

Greg Oden back in Indy

I like that he is able to take his fouling situation light-heartedly and not get too down on himself about it.

I actually think he is doing better in that category, its just that refs now anticipate him fouling so they blow they whistle.

I Blazersedge daily, nightly and ever so rightly.

yeah...reputation fouls are hard to deal with

Unfortunately he prolly needs to take notes from Roy and start complaining more. Go out there and give them some Shaq like glares and intimidate them into not calling stuff on him.

Rooo-D!

Oden back is sweet but...

i’m a little nervous. Hope he is ready and not being rushed, injury wise.

My wish.

Greg comes of the bench 12ish minutes with three intentions:

1.) Rotate effectively.
2.) Keep up with everybody full court.
3.) Earn The Best Passer award.

He is such a presence on the floor that just being there will help our team. The opposing coaches will try to “deal with him”. And even if they are successful, it will be wasted energy… he’s a decoy. I think put-backs and rebounds will come naturally to him anyway. Blocks will just get him in trouble unless he can be certain to succeed cleanly at each attempt.

I think if Greg goes out there thinking “I’ve gotta get all the rebounds” or “I’m gonna block shots tonight” or “I’m gonna dunk all over them” it will spell trouble.

Still, I think a properly rotating, running Oden (doing nothing else) will be more helpful than Frye.

Who Wouldn't Want To Play

GO won three state HS basketball titles on this court and you really want to play in front of family espeically your MOM. I bet no other TB won three straight HS titles.
