Smack me for thinking this, but.....
Darius Miles Money (dmm)
To get the dmm off our cap asap, should we try to sign or trade for a player who would need for that money to be cleared and not on our books to be legit....TOOOOO...prompt our appeal process to the league to begin...asap.
AND!!!! then back out of the bogus (or not) trade...if need be. just a thought.
edit: I know we can't trade and what not now, but later when we can, or would an appeal process (we just submit the forms) work faster., my thinking is the league would have to just reject the trade becuase we were over...and meanwhile we could argue that the rules don't apply becuase they weren't for this specific situation...or whatever... would doing what I'm sugesting give us ammo...is what I'm asking ...I think.

"There are a few teams you have to watch out for in the fourth quarter."
"Yeah, but Portland definitely is not one of them."

-New Orleans Hornets broadcasters right after a Rudy Fernandez missed 3pter. Rudy Fernandez finished the game with three 3pters on six attempts.

Don't we have 3 million
in trade exception for Ike Diogu? when does that expire, whens is the last we can use it?
unless we intend to get under the cap this summer
in which case we would have to use it before then, or renounce it. You can’t keep the exception and be under the cap
How did you guys win that?

DDM = dumbdumb money
not really sure if a rejected trade will force the nba’s hand or get that ball rolling faster than a straight forward appeal.. I say we just send Muffin to deliver the ultimatu- i mean appeal and then to stand over the arbitrators with his arms folded while they decide to grant us the appeal..

glad I could help
I’ll admit to being just as confused as to what you were getting at.. but when I got it, I liked the notion. Even if it’s not the way to do things, it does feel worthwhile to keep in mind that we must have a non-zero percent chance of still getting rid of that contract..
and non-zero is worth the consideration!
