Every time I post on this blog I let everyone know that I am a Wizards fan first, but have adopted the Blazers as my team for this year because, quite simply, I love so many of the players and games at the Rose Garden are incredible to watch on television.
The other team that has really intrigued me this year is the Miami Heat. I think Miami might have the 2nd best future in the league right now (after Portland). Even though I find it incredibly annoying that D-Wade falls to the ground screaming every time he drives the lane trying to get a call, he has been unreal this year. As overrated as J. O'neal was 3 years ago, he is still a very large body who clogs the middle on D, but who stays on the perimeter on O, allowing room for Wade to drive. Mario Chalmers has had the most underrated rookie season. He will be the best on-ball defensive PG in the NBA in 2 years.
What I love most about the Heat is that they have the balls to tell Michael Beasley that he sucks. He is the #2 overall pick in the draft and their second leading scorer. It is one of the coolest things I have ever seen. The structure of the team is so strong, and D-Wade and Pat Riley have so much control of the organization, that they have the luxury to tell Beasley "Son, we just can't afford to play you". Having watched them a lot this year, I can tell you that Beasley is actually pretty good. Its like they just want to make sure he knows who's boss by being hard on him. Beasley will be a superstar. No doubt. The Heat will be the best team in the East in 2 years with D-Wade and Beasley. 27ppg for Wade and 24ppg for Beasley. But the Heat are making sure that Beasley earns it.
Anyway, the point of this post is that I keep imaging a scenario where Joel Pryzybilla is the starting center for the Heat next year. Do you realize that Joel Anthony, their starting center, averages 3 points and 3 rebounds per game when he starts? Imagine Joel, JO, Beasley, D-Wade and Chalmers next year as a starting 5? That team wins 65 games! They score 100 and give up 90. Plus, they don't waste all their cap room on Boozer.
Anyway, sorry for the long post. I just think the Heat and the Blazers will be the two best teams in the NBA next year. Anyone agree? Anyone else think Joel on the Heat would make them unbeatable?
