Dave, I'll listen when I have more time..
Apologies if my answers are inside.
Can you give me Rudy, Martell and Greg updates with the most recent thoughts about likely return dates?
Perfect practice makes perfect.
rudy = doubtful for tomorrow. all indications are that he should be back relatively soon.
martell = done for regular season. claims he will play in april. was shooting jumpers in sneakers last night as posted below.
greg = travelling on road trip and might play as early as sunday. team thinks he looks good and improvement has been made recently.

Great job as usual Dave. One question: You didn't seem to take Brook Lopez very seriously
In my opinion the guy is a legitimate top 5 in the race for Rookie of the Year due to his good all-around game and a real building block for the Nets. He is mobile enough to play 4 and 5. Last week he surpassed the franchise record for most blocks in a season replacing K-Mart, with about 20 games to go. I would have to think hard if I wouldn’t take him over Jerryd assuming KP could have also moved up to get him at #10 if he wanted, since that would have been the most awesome young big men rotation in the league, potentially even enabling the Blazers to move Joel at some time down the road.
Maybe you can elaborate on that aspect in your preview for the NJ game.
I respect Lopez plenty
I just think he’d have a harder time with Oden and Przy than just Przy. Oden would make him play a different way.
—Dave
what happened to the other guy??
Considering many call him a bust and injury prone and never amount to anything. If he plays one more game this regular season, he will have played one more game than any time in bynums career, the one non-playing year excepted. Yet NO ONE in LA complains about Bynum being injury prone, all they ever do is talk about how they can’t wait until he comes back.
I think some of it is that Portland remembers Bowie, and secondly that donkeys always REMIND us of that when they talk trash and it angers us that Oden cant prove them wrong until he is healthy. - GreatOden'sRaven
why would that be weak?
I can verify that people SHOULD be banned for cursing :)
The goal is not to be better, the goal is to be the best.
hmmm
I have no clue.
That said I’ll offer these rumors to spread as you see fit because there’s really not enough drama in the BE world.
1.) Gavin is too big a shot and just doesn’t have time anymore.
2.) Gavin cursed up a storm and Dave and Casey had to edit it all and booted him.
3.) Gavin likes drama more than news and analysis so he’s not a good fit.
4.) He ate too many beans the night before and will be back next show, but was held out as a safety precaution.
5.) Aliens abducted him and he’s now under the mind control of the lkers
The goal is not to be better, the goal is to be the best.
Nice job guys
Stay Healthy.

Lopez is real
That guy can play. He looks a helluva lot better than G.O through this season. I think G.O has the ability to be better long term but those damn injuries seem to get Greg and not Brook
Hi fans it Brandon Roy.
And ME.....LaMarcus Aldridge
Some helpful feedback for these podcasts here -
I just invited some friends over for dinner, and we tuned into a few podcasts afterwards. We all came to the same conclusion for this one: try to make it more conversational.
There are too many segments where one guy talks way too long and dominates. This makes it unpleasant to listen to at times. There should be some attempts to draw the listener into the podcast as though everyone was together around a table. Sometimes quick interactions are better.
I agree
The problem is it’s extremely hard with me over the phone. I can’t see the reactions of the other guys, nor can they see me. That makes true conversation harder. We’re working on it though.
—Dave
There was too much "I agree" and not enough "devil's advocacy" also, which may be another way of saying the same thing... Monologue and dittos.
Pontiff of the Pryz for Prez Posse...
yeah, I had the same thought as timbo, but then i realized
I agreed and thus you were right so what’s the point of throwing things out there that were wrong?
The goal is not to be better, the goal is to be the best.
I agree with the phone thing.
Also, I really enjoy this whole idea (blogger goes podcast) and have enjoyed the chats – I’m simply pointing out something to possibly look at to improve and appreciate your willingness to respond.
As per the phone idea, sometimes J. Quick and S. Meager do a fairly decent job of drawing the audience. I notice Quick will sometimes drop “key floater” words in a response that will immediately cause Sean to respond. At the same time, sometimes the Meager podcast becomes too much of an interview.
Like you said somewhere else in this thread, it is an art and I am sure it will always be fun to do. Keep up the good work!!

Great Job Dave
Enjoyed the podcast as usual. Now get someone to head over and give our guys a good rub down. We need them as close to 100% as possible for the home stretch.
In the podcast y'all ask for questions to be answered...
I’m really interested in the interpersonal politics of the team — who is buddies with whom, etc.
So my suggestion would be to have Ben as a guest some time and to talk about player personalities, etc. with him. That would be interesting.

Pontiff of the Pryz for Prez Posse...
i like these podcasts
and don’t mind if one of you answers a question in more depth.

I, personally,
am trying to get through answers more quickly. It’s a learned skill. Frankly with three people it’s an easier dynamic because you always know somebody is going to pick up. When it’s just Casey and me it falls into a interviewer/interviewee mode which, while still good, isn’t really the dynamic we’re trying to get across. That dynamic also leads to longer answers. It’ll always be in-depth but it will keep getting better.
—Dave
I like that we can send in questions to podcast@something dot com
If I could make a few suggestions.
I like to run a hot bubble bath, light some candles, get a glass of wine, before listening to the podcast, is there any way you two could make your voices deeper and sexy up the podcast a little? Maybe some mood music in the background?
A catchphrase would be nice. Like after you tell Casey how it is, can you could say, “BEgeinated!”
Maybe you could Springer it up a bit too. Like Casey can bring in your high school sweetheart and build a little drama.
After slogging my way through half of that cast...
I just had to turn it off. How much repetition and low-brow “analysis” from Casey can one take? If we want to hear Dave on the air, and we all do, let’s have Ben or somebody interview him. Casey reached his level of modest competence a year ago when he was reading questions from readers to JQ. Now, he’s an “expert” and gets to offer his opinions in a forum beyond his measure. I vote for a Blazers Edge podcast, which can involve the expert commentary available here, supplemented with audio interviews (not typed transcripts) of other experts outside the immediate forum as selected by BE staff.
There — I said it! I don’t feel good about it, but it needed to be said!
I like Casey and I think he has inside information nobody else has.
Sergio + Rudy = 16
Sergio + Bayless = 16
Batum 8+8=16
Or...
let’s do a BE podcast and invite Casey on once every blue moon just to give us his newly acquired inside information.
by blazerwizard on Mar 13, 2009 8:50 AM PDT up reply actions
Inside information is not provided to public that way.
It´s more like trying to calculate the effort when you only can see the sweat.
Sergio + Rudy = 16
Sergio + Bayless = 16
Batum 8+8=16
wow! Casey, STOP TALKING!
I had to turn it off. Geeze, Casey, stop interrupting yourself and talking so much. You have a guest, LET HIM TALK!
i like the podcasts
there are a bit of “i agree” but frankly you’re usually right. Do I want to debate Oden being a bust for added drama? No. For reasons repeated constantly, Oden is the right choice. I like you explaining why as opposed to creating debate about something we already know the answer to.
The goal is not to be better, the goal is to be the best.
I don't care if they agree or not
Maybe just more fan questions. The worst podcast by far was the trade deadline one. It was like a fantasy draft podcast. I think they just need some fan questions and segments kind of like the Basketball Jones. They normally agree, that’s why they have Crossfire.
prez....the meth addict
won’t take a beer at BEdge night but is on ice like a hockey player
is that what you’re insinuating?
