A good article on SI about how the Blazers match up well against the Lakers.

I badly want this to happen
The best possible outcome to this season would be beating the Lakers in 7, at the staples center, behind a buzzerbeater from B-Roy.

for most teams
we will be that team that, even though we will be the lower seed (hopefully the higher seed) and an underdog NO ONE will want to face us in the first round.
We can match up well with most teams and have decent records with the rest. We have split with NO, are down 1-2 against L*, Den and ut, with 3 home games left. We are 2-1 against SA, 1-1 vs Hou with 2 road games left against them and are unfortunately 0-2 vs Dal, butshould finish the season series off tonight going 1-2.

Since we have almost no playoff experience and can't win on the road against a top western team
I don’t think we scare anyone more than NO or Houston does (in fact probably less). I think teams are more worried about getting Utah in the first round than the Blazers. I don’t think LA is worried about facing us in the playoffs, especially since they dominated us twice this year (albeit one game was without Roy).

“I’m a Lakers fan, but I have noticed over the years when this Portland team was beginning to assemble, that, with a little seasoning, Portland can dominate the entire league if they keep all the pieces they have together. I especially like Travis Outlaw, he’s a matchup nightmare, and he gives Kobe fits. If Oden can remain healthy for a long period and Portland jell to the point where they can play games with maybe one or two guys sitting to heal for short periods, this team is a bona fide contender. The Lakers better win this season, because the Trailblazers are a step behind them.”
Not my words! However, they do get my seal of approval
