Blazers selling out

Yesterday was a completely Blazer-centric day for me.  Started with taking the car into the shop to get the oil changed, and the maintenance guy wanting to talk about the 6-game winning streak that the Blazers had at home against the Lakers.  I wasn't wearing and visible Blazers stuff at the time, but the mechanic must have just thought I looked like a Blazers fan, or else he talked to everybody about the Blazers. Either way, this interaction made me think, "Blazermania is back!"

I went to last night's game.  The ride in on the Max was packed with Blazer fans.  My wife and I proudly wore our "Beat LA" T shirts.  There was a little gentle mockery of the one Max-rider wearing a Kobe Jersey.  I overheard a 70+ year old man say to his buddy, "You couldn't pay me $100 bucks to wear a Kobe Jersey."

I have a friend from work that also works at concession stands at the Rose Garden. She has been trying to get me to come to her concession stand multiple times previously, be we have never connected. We went to her stand last night, she sees me, says to her friend at the cash-register, "I told you he'd come!" And then proceeded to have the entire concession stand sing "Happy Birthday" to me. (Yesterday was my 29th birthday).

Since we arrived early, we stopped by the fan-shop over by gate A7.  We browsed through the kids clothes and giant foam fingers, and made it to the back of the shop.  To our absolute horror, we discovered that the Blazers fan shop was selling K*be jerseys.  Now I understand supply and demand, and the K*be jerseys were definitely selling, but the Blazers should never ever under any circumstances sell any Lakers product.  I cannot believe that the main Blazers store is now a supply-house for the enemy.

Let's pretend for a moment that California seceded from the rest of the United States, and civil war ensued.  Lets also say that California's army uses special bullets that are colored yellow or purple.(No one would use gold-colored bullets).  Let's say that the USA army uses bullets that are Red, White or Black.

The California side of the war has no use for Red, White or Black bullets because they won't work in their weapons, and the USA side of the war has no use for the yellow or purple bullets because they won't work in their weapons.

You better believe that at the Army-base Bullet store for team USA, they won't selling yellow or purple bullets.  The bottom line is this:

You don't sell ammunition to, or for the enemy.

The point of the Army-base store is to equip  our side for battle, not the other side.  The Army-base store won't sell equipment to the enemy just for the sake of $$.

The Blazers should not sell K*be jerseys.

Sounds like a very happy birthday

no matter how many Kobe jerseys were sold.

I think the only way they are ammo, though, is if someone stuffs one into a cannon and fires it at someone else. It would be tempting to fire the Kobe jersey back at the cannon-wielder – but I’d trade it in for an Outlaw jersey myself. – Elgin

I'd be interested in seeing data on how many

visitor jerseys the RG sells in a year. It’s gotta be a business decision, however an offensive one to this fan.

anybody else here heard about “Jefferson”? Going to college down there and working in NoCal a few summers it is kind of interesting.

I would not be too against Oregon annexing NoCal from like Redding down to like SF or even further south to Monterey/Pebble Beach. Leave Sacramento and make I-5 the border and take everything west of I-5 down to Monterey.

I dont have too much of a problem with NoCal it is that damn SoCal that is my problem, except Corey Maggette in NoCal. Annex NoCal and let SoCal dry up with no water.

There is some basis to that

Northern Oregon runs the state. Southern Oregon has completely different values/importances to their economy and community. The problem is, Multnomah/Washington counties basically decide the ballot measures and voting in Oregon. Southern Oregon gets the shaft in this regard.

I don’t know about Cali, but I’d imagine it works the same way. The more dense Southern California controls the state regardless of what Northern Cali wants.

This is a brilliant move by the Blazers

It makes it easier to locate and exterminate the enemy, and profit while doing so.

Just think, the money we make doing this will help convince Paul Allen to spend for free agents.

It’s all good. I am entirely in favor of separating L@ker fans from their money.

I like your point

By that logic when you go to LA or if you are unfortunate enough to live their make sure to go to the Staples Center with your Blazers gear before the game. That way we won’t be putting any money back into that organization.

Whats that… you say they don’t carry Blazers gear at the Staples Center?

They were the Swingman jersey which usually sells for 75.00 and I think the Morrison Jersey was $20. I almost pulled the trigger to give to my friend who wanted the blazers to draft him.

Another faux pas last night

I know it is the vendors standard shirt, but that bright yellow/gold shirt they wear should have been changed for last night’s game. No sense giving the impression there were more LA fans than there were. Was almost as bad as Rebecca Harlow’s baby blue outfit in Denver. You would think they would have the vendors wear red any ways.

by blazersrock on Mar 10, 2009 1:40 PM PDT up reply actions

Look for the custom jersey's online.

They fit the girls and look sexy. They had a couple cute shirts as well without hte sparkles, although I agree that there is too much sparkling going on. The styles were nice, but we passed up on a few for specifically that reason.

I hate that there’s not a huge selection of nice subtle men’s blazer shirt. I don’t need a blaring logo, but something reserved and tasteful that I can casually wear without being “obnoxious” about it. the only shirt i’ve purchased for myself was the baseball “blazers” shirt. I don’t like the lack of branding, but it was the thing there that I liked the best. My other blazer apparel is the opening night hat with that stupid wells fargo logo on the back. LOVE the hat apart from that and I’m not a hat person.

I am also not a "gear guy" but I did wear the opening night hat last night.

Actually it was from the ‘07-’08 opener, as I got stuck in traffic on the way to this season’s opener and missed out on the hat.

I’ve located a couple of subtle, retro-y Blazer shirts, one of which I’ll buy before the playoffs. I’ve never really worn Blazer stuff before (not my style).

Blazer FANS were selling out, too.

All those L*ker and K*be fans (yes, there are two different categories) in the RG last night must have numbered upward of 1,000. Where do you think they got those seats, especially the lower-level ones? Mostly they bought ‘em from Blazer season ticket holders motivated by profit and who not only couldn’t be bothered to come support their team in a crucial against a hated rival, but actually allowed the enemy to breach our lines. Folks, if you can’t make the game, you’ve gotta screen your ticket customers, or give them to trusted family and friends, if necessary. I can promise you that the season ticket holder in Row A of Sec. 331 who sold his ticket to the drunken moron L*ker fan who talked crap and woofed at us the entire game, even when his team was down 20+ points!, is going to catch some grief on Wednesday.

On the plus side, of course, is that we were treated to multiple shots of these sad-sack L*ker and K*be fans dejectedly leaving the RG. The aforementioned drunk L*ker fan in our section left giving us one-finger salutes and pantomining putting championship rings on his fingers. Classy!

Hit it. Yes he did. Ohhhh yeah.

And yeah, I sell the tickets on the blazer website in the hopes that blazer fans will occupy the seats. It sucks if others purchase them, but i’m not about to give up the season tickets and really I can’t afford them if i DON’T sell them when I’m not going to the games.

I work

in merchandise (nothing high up, just your usual t-shirt jockey) and we occasionally sale jerseys of the marquee NBA players. When it comes to players from separate teams, the jerseys that are provided are usually back stock from previous seasons when we used to sale more opponent jersey’s. We did sale Dwayne Wade jerseys and managed to sale precisely 0 as the remaining jersey’s (2) were both 2XL. Last year, we sold left over Garnett jersey’s from his Timber Wolves days and Leron jerseys. We still have the Adam Morrison jersey’s in the back room. I laugh every time I see them.
