Thanks Dave for the open chat time.
I didn’t chime in anywhere in the open chat post, but enjoyed a lot of the conversations that took place…and it got me to thinking.
There was a line of thought that combined the ability of two different players, i.e. Bayless/Travis, Joel/Rudy, etc.
I’ve always thought of Greg in this way, if everybody on the team were 7 feet tall, Greg would be the point guard. Most of that is due to his off the charts performance at the NBA combine (which gave Quick the impetus for this article).
But some of it is due to the way he explodes - when he wants to turn on the jets, Mother Nature runs and hides. And then some of it is just the way his body reminds me of LeBron.
I don’t buy into this idea that Greg is brittle, I’ve never seen anyone brittle slam down a dunk that shakes the shot clock for 10 minutes. I think of Greg as more of a bull in a china shop. He really needs to focus on where he is at all times, and when he can ignite the turbo chargers, so as to avoid injuries. I mean he swings his arm and almost lethally flattens an opponent while being somewhat oblivious to it…I digress.
Back to the thought……
When will our new "point guard" Greg Oden hit his 1st 3-pointer. OK, he’ll never truly be a point guard, but will he ever take that 3-pointer? I personally don’t think he’ll take one this year, but will include it in the poll. I’m also not sure if we want him out there taking that shot, but I do like his touch at the foul line.
My ideal combo is the Oden/Sabonis combo, which could be a reality.
Will he ever bring that "Sabonis" quality to the floor?
Yes, the passing, 3-point shooting, slam dunking Oden.
All of the choices with Games 1-82 refer to next year.
When will Greg hit that 3-pointer?
