Junk Drawer 3/1/09 - Throwback Jersey Request

I was about to post my junk drawer. I call dibs on tomorrow!

They roasted the defending CWS champs (Fresno St.) in a luau down at the new PK Park again today.

BJ Upton, Evan Longoria, Carl Crawford, Scott Kazmir, David Price, etc. These guys are going to be tremendous— get them out of the AL East and they’d be a perennial playoff team.

I hope that some Pirates fans are also Steelers fans and it would give me pleasure to steal one of their teams.

I’m not sure if I’d want to rip out a cities baseball heart a la the OKC fiasco. That being said, if this is merely a want issue, you have to go with the defending AL Champion Rays, just because everyone loves a winner.

Apparently the Blazers are against being cool. At least we still have Blaze the cat.

That’s an excellent question. Who’s job would it be to get the ball red hot n’ rollin on the throwback jersey idea? Could Paul Allen just snap his fingers and it shall be done?
     We should do it on a national televised game night of course.

they would do “ThrowBack Jersey” day…prob was they’d give all the guys different shoes to wear…so invariably all the jump shooters were off…it was a bad mistake with the footwear especially . . . .jerseys….eh…they shoulda known better than thinking putting 12 guys in brand new shoes handed to them the night before was gonna work out ok…especially after I ragged on and on about it….One game Thad Young forgot to bring his new pair – - – he was the only one scoring well from outside 2 feet…I think they lost all those games…maybe won one but it was close

I would prefer the NBA switched to the old red, white & blue ABA ball. I’m still in shock that THAT alone didn’t make the ABA more competitive.

I absolutely agree that it’d be great to see our boys wear some throwbacks once in a while; I have to take exception to the idea that our current unis are cool . Sideways lettering? Way cool. Still lowercase but horizontal? Pretty rad. I start to have minor dislikes with the 90s-era just because it looks boxy. And the only difference between then and now? Motion added. The letters have pointy serifs! Everything is pointy, which doesn’t look cool – it just looks like it’s trying to be cool (see: 4 popped collars).

So really, I think our uniforms are clean and CERTAINLY better than some of the WNBA-style competition we face (I mean jersey-wise); I just like the old stuff better.

Because I think the “Portland Brewers” has a nice ring to it.

I’ve also been wondering why we don’t have any throwbacks… the old jerseys were awesome.

even though I entirely agree about throwback jerseys.. I couldn’t possibly care less about anything than MLB in portland..
