Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Thank god for Brandon Roy!!!!!

Brandon Roy has been a part of my life for little more than 2 1/2 years and allready he is easily my second favorite player in our history. Keep in mind i am 28 years old so i do not remeber the Pre-Drexler players save for Kiki Vande....cant remeber how to spell it. He was a hell ofa player before Drexler came into his own. I did love me some Arvydas Sabonis, he is not my Vydas, he is not your Vydas, he is Arvydas Sabonis!!! God the havoc we would have wrought if we had him when we drafted him, not 9 years later but i am still glad to have watched him play. Brian Grant was allways one of my favs also, his D on karl Malone, Tim Duncan Etc. in our playoff runs that ultimatly went nowhere. I loved rooting for them, Steve Smith, Sabonis, Grant, i honestly allways thought Rasheed was a douche and it used to make me nuts when he would go off and get a butt load a T's. Remeber his technical foul prowess all those years? So lame. We had potential and i loved those teams and looked past the stupidity of the boneheads because we still had alot of good guys. The Drexler teams were and still are my all time favorite Porter, Kersey,Buck,Duck,Mark Bryant,Danny Ainge, Robert Pack, Rod Strickland, Cliff Robinson ( i read several articles about him being a huge jerk later on), even the later players, Aaron Mckie, James Robinson,Otis Thorpe (the man Drexler was traded for) Chris Dudley, (i did love me some duds) Those guys were all good players to root for. None however stand up to Clyde Freaking Drexler. Let me say when i was young(7-11) i had a life size card board cut out of Clyde, he wasnt in his Blazer uni but i loved it. I remember standing and marking my height to see how i stood up to Clyde the Glyde on the cut out itself, i made sure not to damage it noticabley but it worked for me. Clyde was my hero growing up, Brandon Roy.........Well B-Roy is easily my second favorite player behind Clyde. This is a very close race at this point in my life. I still have the Sports Illistrated Mag with Clyde and Jordan headlined "on a collision course" i will keep it probly till i die. Should Roy get on a S.I. cover with Lebron/Kobe (who ever you call #1 player in the NBA) that pretty much confirms Roy is 1a to them i dont know...........

This is what makes it so tough, i grew up with Clyde being 1a to Jordan for about 4-6 years. Jordan became something Cylde could never be though. The best player the NBA has ever seen. Clyde was to play in the 60s or 70s he would have destroyed people. He was a top 50 all time player, his only downfall he played in the shadow of Michael Jordan. I Worry Roy will spend his career is Lebron's(my #1 NBA player) Shadow. He probly will but i dont care, i would take Roy over Lebron all day long. Total Homer statement and any rational person would disagree but i LOVE me some B-Roy. 2 1/2 years in the NBA: 1 Rookie of the year, 2 all star appearences, and countless highlights.......more important, countless games influences by him that became wins. That it the biggest measure, How many games can one player win? Jordan was a master at that, Kobe is VERY good at that, Lebron is becoming stellar, Roy? has allways been steady and dependable. Outside of  Lebron or Kobe i would say no one is better at this point in thier development. In 10 years when Roy is a 12 1/2 year Vet i think this topic should be re-visited but for now....Thank God for Brandon Roy, he won us another one tonight!!!

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
