Tonight's Dallas Game in HD on Comcast
Tonight’s Game (vs Dallas) is now going to be broadcast in HD by Comcast on Channel 737 (the new HD sports channel for Comcast – no longer Channel 788).
It was not scheduled to be in HD at the beginning of the year so this is a last minute addition by Comcast. Apparently the LA Clipper road game HD broadcast went well so they added HD for this road game. All HOME games are broadcast in HD by Comcast and KGW, but the Clipper game was the first (and only scheduled this year) road game ever broadcast in HD by Comcast (KGW has yet to broadcast a road game in HD). This is great news because it should mean more HD road games next year on Comcast, and hopefully on KGW as well.

yeah...i noticed that and set the DVR
The more HD the better, and quite frankly there is no real reason anymore to have to put up with below standard def road games when the home teams always have a HD feed.
Just take one or two HD cameras to games to film segments with the broadcast team and then for the rest just use the opposing team’s HD feed.

Blazer Broadcasting rents a production truck when they are on the road.
They don’t use the home team’s production.

what I hate
is when the HD feed isn’t broadcast in Widescreen. Seriously who had a HD tv that is not a widescreen? Can you even buy that anymore? Those annoying bars on the side of the picture are almost enough to make me watch the non-HD broadcast.

What are you talking about?
They have never televised an HD feed that wasn’t widescreen.

The do it on channel 8 actually...when the games are on 708 they have sidebars on it
4:3 is quite for a 16:9 is indeed quite annoying

That is not an HD feed
It is an upconverted standard-definition feed for road games. KGW broadcasts an HD signal for all programming (over-the-air or ch 708 on Comcast) but if there is no HD feed available for local programming (i.e. non-NBC network) they simply upconvert whatever standard-definition feed they have to produce an HD format signal. In those cases you don’t get widescreen because the feed (or original program) was never in HD.

That explains it...sigh
Why is there still “Standard definition”
Obama should give everyone HDTVs and mandate legislation to make all programs and broadcast be HD.
Standard def is so 90’s

Comcast sucks
BlazerFanSince1970 you sound like you work for Comcast. You trying to pitch Comcast as a great company of the community, yet with what their charging us for HD and the sports programming we want is out of line.

I don't work for Comcast.
I send them a check every month just like any other customer. However, I am very involved in the development of high-definition video technology, but I’ve never done any work with or for Comcast, or any other cable, satellite, or over-the-air broadcaster. I’ve never said Comcast is a great company in any sense. But I’m glad they are starting to broadcast road games in HD. Hopefully they will do many more in HD next year.
I had to look it up, but Comcast charges $6.50 per month to add HD channels to their lowest priced digital TV package, which includes all of the channels that broadcast Blazer games. So you think “Comcast sucks” because you have to pay an extra $6.50 to watch the Blazers in HD? I’d happily pay a lot more than that, but I’m a pretty big Blazer fan.

We can thank Mark Cuban.
From what I understand, the Clippers games and last nights dallas game were in HD due to the equipment available at those facilities. Cuban is a big HD guy. I don’t think blazer broadcasting takes the HD truck on the road with them, and I doubt it would be cost effective for them to try to rent one in every city the blazers play.
And with comcast…if you have a dvr box… you can get the HD channels. The extra charge is a scam. Even if you don’t have an HD tv, you should still be able to go to say 708 and see it. And yes, although its alot smaller on the screen, the HD feed

What scam??
If you already have the HD DVR, you don’t pay the $6.50. You only pay $6.50 if you don’t have HD capable equipment included with your package.

Whatever.
Comcast makes you upgrade your TV service then you pay extra for a HD DVR and pay extra for HD service its not part of the bill. You also pay extra for most of the sports channels you want to see.
