Kapono, Roger Mason, Mike Bibby, Danny Granger, Rashard Lewis, and Daequon Cook.

Pretty weak selection if you ask me. Where are the ray allens, nowitskis, or pejas. very lacking in the star area

Granger and Lewis are all-stars

but you’re right about the lack of a big name like the three you list. But the big names don’t win it as often as the 3 pt shooting role player.

by TigardTrailblazer on Feb 4, 2009 3:51 PM PST reply actions

I think Mason is gonna win it.

That guy can never seem to miss when I watch him.

by Bskey on Feb 4, 2009 4:00 PM PST reply actions

wow, I guess I don't need to watch that one

my field of 6.
Ray Allen 41% 120 Made 3pointers
Peja 41% 99 Made 3pointers
Nash 43% 63 Made 3pointers
Lewis 42% 137 Made 3pointers
Rudy 39% 94 Made 3pointers
Granger 40% 120 Made 3 pointers

That is a good mix of older players, and a couple of young players, all of who take alot of 3’s, make alot of 3’s, and shoot a good percentage. Rudy is a homer pick, and could be replaced I guess, but he would bring some excitement I believe.

Steve Nash was in it last year and really struggled. Lost in the first round with 9.

I think guards, especially point guards struggle in this because it takes a lot more energy than people think.

The Kings have the best bench I’ve seen. There are easily 14 guys on this team good enough for every bench in the league. Now if we could only get some starters, I’d totally jizz in my pants.

None of the stars

Want to be in it. Same with the dunk contest, they just don’t think it is worth it anymore. Its a shame, to be honest.

Rudy

I’d much rather see him in the 3pt contest than the dunk one, but no way the NBA was going to put him in 3 events – hopefully next year. I think he’s the kind of guy that could really do well in that competition.

Rule #1 of nitpicking is to get it right.

interesting question..

Rank – Name 3pm 3pa 3p%
4 – Roger Mason , SAS 103 229 0.45
12 – Steve Blake , POR 82 189 0.434
20 – Jason Kapono , TOR 52 124 0.419
20 – Rashard Lewis , ORL 137 327 0.419
31 – Daequan Cook , MIA 105 256 0.41
35 – Mike Bibby , ATL 114 279 0.409
35 -Travis Outlaw , POR 56 137 0.409
46 -Danny Granger , IND 120 299 0.401
52 -* Rudy Fernandez , POR 94 240 0.392

Had to throw in the Blazers that were right in there..
do who ranks above Mason that got snubbed?

1 -* Anthony Morrow , GSW 42 84 0.5
2 – Matt Bonner , SAS 69 141 0.489
3 – Jameer Nelson , ORL 82 181 0.453

not sure if I consider 84 attempts quite legit enough but I don’t see why Nelson or Bonner were snubbed for this.. i especially think that the Matt Bonner fan club should be up in arms on this one..

oh nevermind.. his mom is cool with it..

doesn't matter

they nominated him for the skills contest.. they don’t decide who to invite based on current injuries.. they just find replacements..

how do they select participants?

it was a shame JJ33 wasn’t selected last year. he not only shot at a high % but he shot at a high volume as well.

How boring

When the 3 point competition is on, it will be a good time to take a break.

It's not offensive until someone read it.

Why only one Western Conference Player?

That’s my question, Mason is the only one from the West, why is it tilted towards the East so heavily? Do they shoot better back East?

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
