How the hell did this make the AP?

http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=290227016

"In three seasons in the NBA, the Trail Blazers forward has been disappointing. But with his team in the running for a playoff berth, Roy is making a point to lead his team by doing more than scoring -- even if it comes at the expense of his teammates' feelings."

Brandon Roy is a Forward and has been a disappointment? Those are two things i wasn't aware of. Not to mention by saying he needs to score more at his teammates expense is basically a comment taken out of context. The whole thing is a blatant piece of stupid journalism.

Yes Sir

It’s funny because the same AP recap was on Yahoo but Yahoo edited that part.

My Reaction

To be slightly less critical, I realize that it could just be an error. But it should have been fixed by now. Yahoo fixed their error.

I think they left the word "not" out

but it should be fixed. It’s not printed newspaper, it’s online

Right

but he did also say forward, which is another error. Yahoo actually fixed both errors.

Conspiracy theory

Since the game was in Minnesota and the T’Wolves know they got worked in the Roy-for-Foye deal, I wonder if the AP writer was a Wolves fan and tried to get a jab in at Roy. I wouldn’t think so, because I believe most people try to be more mature and professional than that, plus the person would probably be disciplined or fired … but, I can’t understand any other reason for the error, except for sheer stupidity and ignorance.

by BigBlazer on Feb 28, 2009 12:27 PM PST reply actions

Should Have Read.

“In three seasons in the NBA, the Timberwolves forward has been disappointing. But with his team far from making a run for a playoff berth, Foye is making a point to lead his team by improving his scoring — even if it comes at the expense of losing fans.”

That is insane

Mount up troops and blast them. Disappointing? Yea, ROY, two all star games is disappointing. Idiots shouldn’t be allowed to write for the AP.

The good thing about Yahoo

Is that when a regular columnist posts a story, usually there is a place for comments. There, readers can point out any errors and the columnist can fix it themselves. I play Fantasy sports there so they are really good about it. The AP is a different story, it’s like there are no editors at all.

The AP is garbage--

— they have turned into a complete joke of a news organization. Their accuracy in national/political news is about the same as that quote. Sad, really— they used to have a reputation the quality of which only McClatchy seems to adhere to these days. Another triumph of profit over journalism.

I think they are talking about Lamarcus...

but failed to specify then the second part is talking about how Brandon is gonna kick his ass into shape for being disappointing

by Croatian_Sensation on Feb 28, 2009 7:51 PM PST reply actions

Nevermind

I read the full article and there is no way they are talking about LA. So uh disappointing huh? …ok?

Their opinion I guess.

Maybe their hopes for BRoy are even higher than ours.

Dont like the nickname ROY BOT

sounds terrible

The Blazers will play beautiful basketball.

Brandon will shoot the lights out. Blake will run and LMA will finish strong at the hoop. Bayless will play because we’ll be so far ahead in the 4th quarter, giving all the Jerryd fans something to smile about.

But wait, that’s not all. Rudy will go 5 of 5 from distance. Batum will posterize someone. And Channing will NOT lead the team in points.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
