So... I love the ABC serial drama "Lost" and I love the Blazers.
And since I am bored as hell and feeling less than creative, I started trying to play that
ridiculously stupid time-honored game of drawing comparison between TV and real life. Then I made the unfortunate decision to drag all of you into it.
The game is to draw a relevant similarity between a current Blazer and one of the characters on "Lost" with a brief explanation. Like this...
Greg Oden - Greg is our Hurley... Like Hurley, Greg won the "lottery", but was almost embarrassed by the whole ordeal, and bad things started happening in his life almost immediately following his good fortune. He is beloved by everyone around him, but does not see within himself the greatness that is obvious to others. You get the feeling that he will play a major role in coming episodes...er... years.
Brandon Roy - B-Roy is our John Locke. Brandon exhibits great skill and awareness of what is needed to win. Much as Locke seems to be in tune with the Island, and what is required of his lost brethren in order to meet their destiny, Brandon plays this role of leader, not because he desires attention or accolades, bur simply because he knows it is his cross to bear. Also, I believe Brandon is good with a knife.
Channing Frye - Channing os our Sawyer. Like the buffoonish but beloved swashbuckling con on the Island, Channing is beloved beyond his apparent usefulness. Despite heinous misdeeds and a checkered past both are adored within the community. Channing's comic relief and love affair with Portland keeps him relevant, much as Sawyer's humor and romance with Kate does.
I could go on all day, but I wanted to see if anyone else wants to play.
Or maybe I am the only one who digs Lost, or plays these stupid games.]
** A couple of guys in the comments pointed out that this has been done before. Here's a link to their action...
